Describe the issue
Using the Roon app to stream music from Qobuz, I regularly get the error "Too many failures stopping playback" or "This track is not currently available from Qobuz", if I click the selected track over and over it will eventually play, but then it may skip the next track, and the one after that, until I manually click over and over until it plays each one. This is a recent problem, I've been using Roon for a little over a year and only in the last couple of months has this become a frequent problem. Nothing about my computer, DAC, or network has changed.
Thank you for your post. We’ve requested diagnostics from your RoonServer which should illuminate the problem.
The two errors you’ve mentioned, Too Many Failures; Stopping Playback and This Track Is Not Currently Available from Qobuz, have separate causes. The former indicates issues with the digital signal path between Roon and a Zone. The latter indicates a failed response from Qobuz’s servers.
Please provide an approximate timestamp or the name of the track that was playing for each error. This will greatly expedite our investigation.
As a test in meantime, try connecting your laptop via ethernet - are you able to reproduce the second issue, This Track is not currently available from Qobuz, with an ethernet connection to RoonServer?
Please also share a screenshot of the Signal Path in Roon when you’re playing to the Holo May as per your description above.
Hi Connor, thanks for your reply! Both errors happened at 5:01pm ET Oct 10, 2024, attempting to play Sade “Promise”. The first track “Is It A Crime” skipped several times telling me “This track is not currently available from Qobuz”, it then proceeded to track 2 and returned the error “Too many failures…” I clicked the first track again several times until eventually it played as expected. If I close both HQPlayer and Roon and open the Qobuz app directly it plays without any problem, so it seems like either Roon or HQPlayer is causing the errors. HQPlayer is updated to the latest version (5.7.4) and my HQP settings have not changed since before the problem started.
I’m sorry, I do not have ethernet cable that I can test with my pc, only wifi.
Are you able to reproduce the same issue if you try to play to System Output (Mac internal speakers), or does it only occur on HQ player? It doesn’t look like your Roon Server is currently active, but please try to use the Roon app for a few minutes to confirm System Output behavior and we’ll recheck for the log set delivery afterward.
I get the same errors outputting to System Output, however I just noticed that when I switch between versions of the same album it seems to be only the Qobuz stream that gives this error - I am able to play the same titles in Tidal or local files with no problem. But I can play those same titles in the Qobuz app itself (without Roon or HQPlayer) just fine. Thus, it seems like this is a problem with Roon’s interfacing with my Qobuz app? I’ve tried logging out of Qobuz in Services and then re-logging back in, and I’ve reset my router, both to no effect. I could try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Qobuz application on my pc, but I don’t know if Roon connects to the stream through my application/drivers or directly to the Qobuz servers?
I see you’re running Roon Server on a windows machine, have you tested the firewall settings yet? Here’s more info on what needs to be added as an exception to the firewall.
Another quick way to test firewall permissions is to temporarily disable your windows firewall and see if the same issue persists.

If you still encounter errors after trying the above, it may be worth testing out using a different DNS server on the machine.
We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let me know if it helps?
While I appreciate your efforts to assist none of these suggestions has had any effect. Ultimately, I’ve decided for now to simply unsubscribe from Qobuz and continue streaming Tidal through Roon. I can’t fathom any reason the Qobuz app should work fine, and streaming Tidal through Roon should work fine, but streaming Qobuz through Roon is broken. But for now, at least, it seems likely everything I listen to on Qobuz is also available on Tidal, so that should solve the problem in the short term. Thanks for your effort in troubleshooting my problem.
