FS: 2x Hi Fi Berry DAC2 HD Raspberry Pi Roon Ready Endpoints

I’m rationalising a couple more of my Raspberry Pi Roon endpoints - so I have two to sell, both have Hi Fi Berry’s best DAC HAT - the DAC2 HD.

Endpoint 1 is a Raspberry Pi3b 1GB with the DAC2 HD. It is in a simple open sided clear perspex case with a 16G Sandisk Ultra SD card.

It has an iFi Audio iPower Low-Noise Power Supply - I have the original box containing many of the adapters. I probably have them all somewhere - so if you want a specific adapter in addition to the one needed for the Pi let me know and I’ll find and include it!

Endpoint 2 is a Raspberry Pi4b 2GB also with the DAC2 HD. It is also in a simple open sided clear perspex case with a 32G Sandisk Max Endurance SD card.

This one has an official Raspberry Pi 4 power supply in white

The cases are designed to bolt together - so if you want a small footprint two zone roon endpoint (which I did) this is cool!

I’ve been using both pretty continuously for several years without issue (although see notes below)

I’m looking for £75 + shipping for each of the endpoints. If you buy both I will pay the shipping!

Software Notes:
These endpoints can run a number of software stacks, including Ropieee and Hi Fi Berry OS. I found two limitations a future buyer should be aware of (and Hi Fi Berry don’t mention).

  1. The DAC2 HD board makes a click when changing between 44.1k and 48k derived sample rates. Like some others who use this HAT I found this annoying. The simple fix is to set roon to always upsample to the HAT’s maximum 192K - so then the click doesn’t happen between tracks.
  2. When using Ropieee there is a problem with the Hi Fi Berry driver - which can automatically set the volume to zero. There is a way round this - but I figure this is for the more advanced user. I don’t believe there is any issue in Hi Fi Berry OS. If you want to use Ropieee the info you need is here: Ropiee 2024.08/ Pi 4/ HiFiBerry DAC2 HD - Volume in Roon keeps resetting to 0

Because of issue 2 I have installed (and tested) the latest Hi Fi Berry OS. This works with roon (and shows the endpoints as Roon Ready) and avoids the volume issue.
