Great to hear. For the future, maybe consider running roon in an Ubuntu server install. It will be easier to diagnose with ssh. Easy to install and maintain.
Hmm maybe, was thinking of buying a laptop and run roon from windows as core with the HQ player.
But for now am happy all is working okay again.
This is a known problem with increased W11 security and the guest logon to SAMBA, @Geoff_Coupe has a link for a fix . I’ll try and find it Geoff doesn’t
Microsoft has tightened SMB security in Windows 11. Follow the steps in this article. If you have Windows 11 Pro start at step 6; if you have Windows 11 Home, start at step 8.
Same with a Nucleus Plus - there are plenty of threads /comments on this - I wish Roon would come out and say something - as many of us are individually troubleshooting that worked circa 6 -8 weeks ago. I am hoping the next version brings back the stabulity.
They have - they have updated the Help articles for Nucleus and ROCK to account for this issue and they are reportedly working on a replacement for “guest” access to Roon OS.
@Geoff_Coupe @Mike_O_Neill Thank you. I tried this but seems a bit hard for me. Also some setting i want able to find.
Hi Geoff, my bad I wasn’t referring to the Windows 11 issue I was referring to the overall slowdown (I dont use Windows 11) in the last month or so
Ah - I see - apologies.
Good to know that I am not alone. I have been experiencing the same issues. Very slow between songs and to load the home page takes 10 seconds. I believe I am also a gen 7 i3 All local for my with 46K tracks. It is not my network. All gigibit and hardwired. I work from home and monitor everything constantly.
I have two Roon accounts for home and work, both are an 8th gen i5. The work Roon became unusable at work so I replaced the SSD and now it’s back up to speed.
You’ve replaced both ssd’s?
SSD dont break easy, But yea i think something with Roon is wrong. Since when stop my nuc once in a while and the restart it… it much faster again. So maybe something with a memory that is filling. Like google webbroswer does to your memory..
My daily thought on this, it would be great if Roon would ack something here as there are many users, replacing hard drives, rebuilding databases, checking their network etc - for me if you have had a stable system for years, nothing has changed and you wake up to many other users with similar issues…..even a note from Roon saying “Hey we are looking into this as it doesnt sound right” may actually save people time and money (time is money!)
As I understand it, Roon doesn’t monitor this section of the forum. It would need to be posted in the Support or Feedback section for Roon to see it.
There are a few threads over there (search for treacle ) ! ![]()
I have the exact same I3 nuc and over the weekend mid-song it dropped off my network. I tried letting it sit unplugged, etc.. No luck. What did work, I disassembled the unit removing the drives and cleaning it all with compressed air. While not a lot of dust it did fix it for now. Odd that it has been fine for years and just stopped.
Just a slight clarification on your post: we shouldn’t post directly in Support, but raise a support request by following this link to provide the details of our cases to Technical Support: Technical Support Request
Responding to the prompts there ensure that you’ve performed basic troubleshooting and to ensure Technical Support has the full details necessary to expedite Technical Support’s investigation into the case.
The responses will create a ticket on Roon’s support tracking system and auto-generate a Community thread in the appropriate section.
That’s not a support ticket but in Feedback.
It’s also quite likely that causes differ between different people, so separate, dedicated tickets would probably be helpful to make it supportable. (And if then some are found to be related, support staff can merge them)
I have lately started from scratch with my own Nuc.
Reinstalled Roon Server last night.
It’s reorganising my Nas music library at the moment.
There is an update available but the load on the system is too great just now.
I think I should add more ram to the present 8gb
Glad to have my Roon back making wonderful sounds via my Linn Klimax DS streamer.
