I hear glitches during gapless playback between tracks. I’m experiencing this when Roon is outputting directly to my DAC (Devialet 12) as well as when Roon is outputting to HQPlayer or Dirac. I’ve noticed this on my ALAC files for the following albums:
Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi - The Four Seasons
Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone
I have not noticed this issue on Tidal or on any FLAC albums.
Interesting - I’ve never had a single gapless glitch with Roon into my D200 in the whole time I’ve been using it (a good few months now, and the vast majority of my library is ALAC).
Can you share a little more about your system/setup? Where are your files stored, and how are you connecting to the Devialet?
The files are stored on a local hard disk drive, connected via SATA. My computer is connected to the Devialet via USB with an Uptone Regen in the path. The computer is a NUC running Windows 10.
The glitch is just the slightest pop on one or both channels, immediately between tracks. This has also occurred on Tidal now too, with Explosions in the Sky - The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place.
If anyone with any ideas on where to start troubleshooting, i would appreciate hearing them! Thanks!
Sorry Peter, I literally can’t think of anything and I’m not windows based, I’m sure one of the support guys will be along. I’m assuming these tracks play without glitches in another piece of software? Sounds like that’s the case if Tidals doing it too.
Hey @Peter_T – we have an item open for our upcoming 1.2 release related to gapless playback. We were able to reproduce an issue where certain types of files that should be playing gapless have an issue in Roon.
It doesn’t happen with all files, but we are hoping to do better here and I’d like to confirm whether we can reproduce a similar issue with your files.
Would it be possible for you to zip up the album and PM me a link via Dropbox (or similar service)? If you don’t have somewhere to upload the files, just let @vova and I know, and we’ll get you some instructions for zipping up the album and uploading it directly to our server.
