Gungnir multibit - problems

Hi there,

I am running build 88 of Roon on Windows 10 latest build. I have downloaded the ASIO drivers from Schiit’s site, installed and configured. Roon software is setup for exclusive use, max buffer, etc. I am using a USB 2 connection to the DAC.

Problem: First play a CD quality file (16/44), which works just fine. Switch to another file with a different sampling, in this case 24/192 - it attempts to play and then stops 0 seconds into the song. You must restart Roon to play anything after that. Roon can start with any resolution and play it so order does not matter, eg start with 24/192 and then attempt to play 16/44. In all cases switching to a different sampling rate causes Roon to not play the music. Furthermore staying with the same sampling rate, no matter what it is, works just fine.

Start with 16/44 - Plays just fine, Switch to 24/192 - Roon cannot play the music
Start with 24/192 - Plays just fine. Switch to 16/44 - Roon cannot play the music.
Start with 16/44 - Plays just fine. Play another 16/44 - Plays just fine. Same with all.

I have reinstalled the drivers after uninstalling. I have restarted multiple times. Nothing appears to work.

To further diagnose the problem I have installed Roon Server on a Mac, connected it to the DAC using the same cabling and same music and it works just fine. Further more, the Windows box was successfully using a different DAC (Cambridge DacMagic Plus with the USB ASIO Drivers) and was working without issue.

Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick,

Haven’t heard of a similar issue. I’d suggest trying various delays in the audio settings to see if giving Roon and the DAC a bit of time to get used to the change in format might help. Let’s also drop a flag for @brian and see if he knows what’s up.

I think I read somewhere about a DAC or driver needing a resync delay when certain things switched. You might want to experiment with that setting.
