Hi - I simply want to name a remote device that i use as a bridge/endpoint. The one giving me trouble right now happens to be an Android tablet (Fire 7). The name is some inscrutable combination of letters.Ideally i would like it to be the same as the device’s ID “myfire7”. When i click on it, there is no mech to change the name. When i go to settings --> audio there is no mech to change name. I thought that i momentarily saw a text box appear, but i cannot get it back.
Related to that, i’d like to understand what exactly Roon names as a zone/endpoint. Is it a MAC address? What?
Thanks in advance. I did search on “naming devices” and found only how to name cores.
Just change the name in Zone Settings (left click the volume icon bottom right of now playing screen and select the cog).
Maybe I am missing what you are trying to get at, but this will change the perceived name of the endpoint.
I’ll try that again. That was the first thing i did. All that did was bring up a window with a volume slider, and DSP controls. And “left click” on a phone or tab is somewhat vague to impossible.
Well - to anyone with this question – i certainly cannot change it by simply clicking the “playing zone” in the bottom right.
Rather, what works, is to go to settings --> audio --> click on the machine/zone you want to target and there ought to be a pencil (edit) next to the name box. Clock the pencil and name / rename it. Zone must be enabled.
i’ll ask again though, can you clarify the screen/situation of the device and precisely what you wen to? It was hard to interpret from what you said and I could have made an error
