Wow, what beautiful headphones, this has given me an idea of what headphones to buy next.
For other beautiful looking and great sounding wood body headphones check out ZMF Headphones.
Wood on headphones increases Musical timbre
Sorry.
they are especially good with Bach, and his musical chops, as they leaf no note unheard.
I am sapping my brain trying to think of any headphones made with wood I have bought , and the answer is none.
New Headphone amp for use with my Dan Clark Audio Aeon2 Noire
A Bakoon HPA-21 battery powered amp with a current output.
Reported to work well with low impedance Planar headphone designs, such as the DCA ACN with 13ohm and 92dB
Also used with a custom 5m dual mono 8 core pure silver headphone cable, terminated with a Cardas TRS plug.
Update
I have now connected up the Bakoon EQA-11R current output to the HPA-21 current input, the āSatri-Link connectionā using a pair of BNC/RCA with a BNC adaptors (trying to find out what the original BNC/BNC cables were & whether still available), and WOW the presentation over this connection, makes the RCA connection through the Sim Audio Moon Pre-Amp sound splashy and ill-defined, more detail with even less noise.
So the Satri-Link connection is Current amplification from the cartridge to the headphones, worth the time to make this additional connection.

I am just starting to burn in my HiFiMan Aryaās , through my Naim Uniti HE they are sound great , 96 hours to go
, if they improve with age they are going to be quite something
I am a mug for the discounted price and āonly one leftā
My HD800 ear pad fell off last night , I think they are sentient
Letās start a real debate ā¦
My new headphones came with a puny 1,2 m 6.3 jack cable , rather than sit inside the hi fi cabinet , you know the rest.
My simplest solution is a cheap and cheerful extension lead 6.3 male to 6,3 female
Or invest in a custom lead if so 6.3 mm to 2x3.5mm
Or a balanced XLR or Pentacon 4.4 to 2 x 3.5 mm
Who has any opinions ![]()
To have a custom cable will cost me £65 to get it here , nearly as much as the cable, someone locally wants R 7500 = £325 for a 1.2 m cable OUCH
I have plenty Mike. But ācable talkā is dangerous⦠![]()
If I understand you correctly, youāre saying that a custom will cost you Ā£65 + Ā£65 = Ā£130. While thatās a steep shipping charge, the price for the actual cable seems quite reasonable. Since you already have a cable with a 6.3mm plug I would get a cable with one of the balanced connectors. You can always pick up an extension cable when you find one at a fair price. No flame war from me ![]()
Hi,
It is worth going for the best cable you can justify.
If you can use Balanced XLR connection use this, as many headphone amps have a powerful output through this connection, which means you need Les gain, which equals less noise.
Also get a little longer than you need, to be comfortable when listening and the cable is not strained.
Then for the construction more cores is better, Silver plated copper is better than copper, silver will be different to either SPC or copper.
The R7 is an amazing bit of kit. I think Iām in love with it? ![]()
