Headphones thread (show us yer cans)!

You can try the new Sennheiser HD620, which is easy to drive despite their 150 Ohm impedance. Inner Cup size is 7x5cm.

@Torben_Rick
Shame, these would be ok size wise.

At home I use “The Composer” - perfect fit  But “The Composer” is not suitable for travel and more.

@Marin_Weigel @Fergus_B This thread is becoming injurious to my bank balance.

I’ve just picked up a pair of each of the 7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2 and the KZ ZS10 Pro with a couple of Linsoul 4.4 mm balanced cables. Had to order some Sonicfoam eartips as well to fit my ginormous earholes.

With a bit of equalisation, these are scarily close to my Sennheiser IE500 Pro IEMs.

I listen to them with a little Moondrop Dawn on Roon Arc on the move and with one of my headphones amps when at home. Roon Arc’s Muse profile functionality is just fantastic. I’ve got profiles with parametric EQ and headroom adjustment set up for all my wired and wireless IEMs now :grinning:

Minor upgrade for my Sundaras. New cable. I’m sure the colour of the braided cover influences the SQ. not too bright, nor dull. :face_with_peeking_eye:

Compared to my Custom Cans 3.5mm, this alternative with XLR with my FiiO R7 sounds just as good. Compared to my cheaper XLR cable there is a distinct improvement.

I validate your purchase! Just on a whim about a year ago, I also purchased the KZ ZS10 Pro’s with the Linsoul Tripowin Zonie 16 Cable. Better than any Bluetooth IEM’s for a total cost of about $80. I added the Linsoul Memory Foam Eartips a few weeks later.

I have no connection to Linsoul but even their $25 IEM’s are better value than a couple of trips to a boutique coffee shop!

I’m using the Truthear Zero Reds with a similar cable and Sonicfoam tips. Glad to hear that somebody else has large ear holes! Great SQ for small cost in today’s IEM market.

Just got home and replaced my broken Focal Clear head band. I got this generic headband on eBay for $45 shipped from China. It works well and is very comfortable and adjustable. Now I just need to decide what to do with this pair of headphones I don’t really need since I bought a new pair already.

Sell them as a “one of a kind” (due to the replacement headband) model, for an elevated price, of course!

The headband looks really interesting. Do you mind sharing the name or a link?

Have just needed to reuse the RME ADI 2 DAC FS that normally does headphone duty for me, driving DCA Aeon 2 Closed Back. I had an old JDS El Amp 2 that never sold and expected it to be a significant downgrade from the RME internal headphone amp. However, much to my surprise, I preferrred it to the RME when comparing side-by-side. I’ve paired it with a Wiim Pro Plus to make a tidy little stacked rig and, although I don’t like the DAC section quite as much, overall I’m mighty impressed. :grinning:

Edit: I was also reminded of the excellent JDS customer support when they swiftly replied to my email and showed me how to permanently disable the light on the amp.

They are definitely more difficult to drive . Bit of headroom in roon , convolution filters and a high DR record that is not mixed loud and I’m at 70-80% on both my smsl SP400 and Singxer SA1. (Balanced with 4v into the amps).

My Meze liric would be ear-bleeding loud at those settings.

Changed my headphone setup. iFi iDSD Pro is gone and replaced by the Ferrum stack.
Mac Mini is my ROON server. The dock below has SSD with my music which is combined with Tidal streaming.

This weekend I took receipt of my new phone. A Nothing Phone 2a.

It has the LHDC V “hi-res” codec. So I ordered the Nothing Ear pods. So I get hi-res via Bluetooth right!

Not quite. Upto 1000kbps.

They look good and sound great. They’re set for 24/192. Anything below this is upsamped though. Hmm!

Most importantly, how do they sound. For £108 that I paid they sound great for what they are. Better in my view than AirPod Pros I’ve been using at work.

If I set them for AAC you can clearly hear the difference. Quite impressed.

For a complete setup to force the top resolution I have had to access the developer settings and manually set everything. This so far gives the best SQ. I’m yet to be in a high interference Bluetooth area to see how things cope.

Noise cancelling needs an update to the firmware. A slight background echo is audible on quieter sections of music. I find turning it off is fine and the ear pieces give adequate noise cancelling for my liking.

Phones specs: up to 20gb RAM, 8 cores, 2.8ghz
That’s more than my Roon Rock machine.
