I had Roon installed on my laptop which also served as a core.
I now installed it on a Nucleus One and transferred all my music files to its hard drive. All fine and dandy! I can even use ARC on my phone to listen to the music stored on my Nucleus.
There is however one problem.
When I try to log into Roon from the Roon App on my phone, it doesn’t find my Nucleus, instead it tries to connect to the now deactivated core on my laptop. I reinstalled the app. To see if it will find the Nucleus instead but the same issue recurs.
My system is a Roon Nucleus One with a 4TB SDD, plus Roon running on my Windows 11 laptop which was also my previous “core”.
Yep thats what I did. Yet, when I tried to search automatically from the phone it wouldn’t find it. I have to type in the network address manually, then, it connected instantly.
Thanks for letting us know that the manual IP address worked.
What kind of network setup do you have, can you let us know the model/manufactrurer of your networking gear and how the Nucleus is connected?
If you navigate to Roon Settings → Setup → Find RoonOS devices, does the Nucleus show up there? Are you able to access the Nucleus Web UI without issue?
Specifically for the phone remotes, I would make sure that Roon security settings allow local network access.
We wanted to reach out before this thread auto-closed due to inactivity. Our diagnostic servers can’t confirm whether or not you’ve successfully set up your Nucleus One at this point, so we’re eager to assist if you still require further troubleshooting here.
Please first check through the steps and questions prompted above by my colleague @noris.
I have. The issue stemmed from not having deleted my previous installation of Roon from the laptop that had been my server. Though I “deactivated” it during my laptop install, my phone would continue to try connect to it. Once I deleted Roon from the laptop completely and reinstalled it (it took 2 attempts). The issue disappered. I still have some minor difficulties with my phone searching for the server as soon as I open the app but after a minute or 2 it seem to “find” it. At least it’s not trying to connect to my laptop “server” anymore. My ARC is also working as expected after following the instructions on how to manually assign the port. In summary everyting seems to be working as expected. Very happy with tge performance and sound quality of the gear and software.
