Description Of Issue

I have just today installed Roon Rock onto an Intel NUC however been unsuccessful in my attempts to make codecs accessible to Roon OS. Could you please give me step by step help with how I place the ffmpeg file and how to access the Codecs folder of Roon OS’s shared data directory as I have been unable to locate. Whilst the OS Web UI shows the Codes as missing, I have been able to link to my music stored on a networked NAS and play. Many thanks!

Hi @vince_sibley,

You can use the instructions from our Codec’s Knowledge Base Guide to resolve the issue with the missing codecs, and there is a step-by-step guide there. The process is relatively straightforward, and all the blue links are click-able:

  1. Download the ffmpeg .tar archive (link on the Knowledge Base Guide)
  2. Use 7-Zip to uncompress it
  3. Open your ROCK database folder, you can use these instructions
  4. Copy the extracted ffmpeg file to the Data\Codecs folder
  5. Reboot ROCK and see if the issue is resolved
