A name your wife can understand what it means; so she can habdle according. She wants it now, the moment she wants music. Maybe no name at all.
I vote for RoonPlay. It’s the best mix of technical and usage description, and good to understand for everybody.
What I like as well is RoonPlayer but this maybe a little distracting as a Player is something you can the play button, and this is in Roon GUI (mainly).
My problem with player is that it does not really play anything. It just passes on a stream that has been set playing somewhere else. It is not like a CD player that you hit play and play something to and amp and speakers. The main Roon program or remote is more akin to the player we normally associate with the word.
Of all the suggestions so far I lean towards RoonStreamer I think. If you look at Brian and Danny’ explanation of RAAT and how it works they used the term streamer for the roonspeakers function. I think this best describes the funtion and is reasonably snappy.
How about Rooncast?
Yes I could see that working well.
RoonPoint or RoonPlay
RoonBridge or RoonConnect are my two favorites.
I guess one could argue it’s a transport and call it Roon Transport or Roon Transporter.
“Roon Tools”. With a drop down menu
Enable Sound
Play offline
Etc…
I like RoonPlayer. And then qualify with the platform like RoonPlayer for Pi, etc.
Given the existing names AirPlay and ChromeCast, I reckon that both RoonPlay and RoonCast would work well, particularly as Roon already streams to AirPlay endpoints.
Generally best to steer away from any implied association with other names/businesses rather than toward them.
Roon EndPoint for a unit with it’s own control possibility (like a computer)
Roon Server for the core unit
Roon ControlPoint For a unit running the app
Roon Bridge For a RoonReady slave unit
“Roon Certified”
Because that is what Roonspeakers mean, it’s certified to work with Roon.
Piglet …
Now there’s real suspense - not just for the thing itself, but the surprise of what it’s going to be called…
Roon Softbridge if it is meant to have digital outputs and Roon Softplayer if it is meant to have analog outputs as well.
I’d vote for RoonBridge or RoonPlay.
Another Naim owner here keeping his fingers crossed for Naim streamers to become Roon Ready.
Roon Net
Roon Key
Roon Pack
Roonix ( a la Matrix)
Roon River ( like the song )
Roon Landing ( cos it will be ! )
~M~
I vaguely recall reading about someone at Roon liking the oo sound. (Sooloos. A palindrome!)
Roon OOR (Other Onsite Receiver)
Others, just spitballing here:
RoonLoop
(inspired by Moonloop’s username)
RoonZoom
RoonVoom
