Very hard to choose just one Monk album, but this solo album covers a lot of Monk ground.

Hitting many of the best of their time

Any of the four Road Show albums would be a good choice as Sonny was always better live. I just chose Vol. 1 was that came up first.

Ron
My favourite album of 2023 so far

Johnny Raducanu is the best this country has to offer in jazz… him and Aura - try Dor de Viata from this album

I had the honour to spend some days in a closed group with him when I was student. He was very close friend with one of my teachers. He was so open minded that accepted the invitation to come sit for us as a drawing/painting class.
Thanks for posting
I’m relatively new to listening to jazz, and too much of a meat head American to contribute anything from outside of the US right now… but here are a few things I’ve been listening to lately that I love.
Isaiah Collier put this album out last year and it blew me away.
Favorite Track: The Vessel Speaks
I’ve also been listening to a lot the Black Jazz label reissues and both of The Awakening’s albums on the label are outstanding.
Favorite track: Kera’s Dance
Blank Forms Editions’ rerelease of this Organic Music Theater live show is one of my favorite albums right now, and some of my favorite Don Cherry.
Favorite track: Butterfly Friend… it’s just ![]()

Sad to have to report the death of Ahmad Jamal at age 92 Ahmad Jamal, influential jazz pianist, dies aged 92 | Ahmad Jamal | The Guardian
This is his classic with his famous.version of Poinciana.

Lots of great stuff already mentioned.
Would love to see Fela Kuti included. It’s hard to find a short Fela song. If you’re willing to include a longer track then maybe Gentleman. Of course, Zombie is an amazing track.
There’s not a lot of vocal jazz suggested:
