HiFi Christmas Presents

Merry Christmas everyone!

Each year I often buy myself a Christmas present, especially as the cost of my HiFi rises and this year I purchased myself a new digital transport. Though I had a rocky start, this is now resolved (a badly humming unit).

I purchased a Lumin U2 and its excellent.

What new HiFi gear are you playing with this Christmas?

Nothing new. I pulled my trusted old AB amp from the attic, just because it looks so much better than the class D colleague. SQ is the same

Congrats, nice piece of HiFi jewelry. You get a tiny bit of the great mind of @wklie with it, which is a nice added bonus.

I used to treat myself at Christmas too, HiFi-wise – but since I’ve got my KEF LS60 this summer there’s nothing to add, I’m afraid. So I got myself a handful of these to rule them all:

Great little buggers for volume and media control. Joy to the world!

I pulled out my Dragonfly Cobalt and Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones just to get out of the back bedroom at my MIL’s home. Surprisingly, I’m getting a good clean sound with the Dragonfly plugged directly into my Dell laptop. No need for anything new.

Thanks for reminding me. Need to put mine for sale since I have that Tanchjim gadget

Thats looks like a really nice product. I will have to investigate, thanks for sharing.

I also plan on getting on LS60s when I upgrade my home. How is the bass slam? Can it hit low and hard?

I’m curious—how are you using these in your setup?

I took the advice of @thecomputeraudiophile My New Favorite In-Ear Headphones - Bits and Bytes - Audiophile Style and got this new Hanukkah setup. JCR

A wonderful old 32" Panasonic TV finally faded out in the guest room / person cave, so I got us a Sony W830K. Reports of the demise of Chromecast notwithstanding, this still casts as a Roon endpoint that connects to a Cambridge Audio Dac Magic via Toslink optical and then to an AXA35 amp.

I am a fan of the Sony Bravia platform and (especially) its user control interface.

T+A DAC200 :open_mouth:
It good is all I can say right now. Only been a couple days. But I’m not disliking it for sure.

I will receive LPs, CDs, and a friend whom I met through Roon, from half-way across the globe, sent/gifted to me a new WiiM Pro. Great gift, but his firendship is the best present I can receive.

I think I’m going to get a Holo Red if I get the nod from Mrs Wiz

I looked at this, its looks like an excellent transport I must say.

I wish it came in a black option though.

Since it is a three paycheck month and a bonus month to boot this January, I might just finally pick up a pair of Schiit Aegir monoblock amps and a pair of BJC star quad XLR cables to connect them.

Ive always wanted to try monos. I am tempted to get a pair of Topping B200s.

A present from the wife that I did not even know I needed but by golly im impressed.
FIIO KA11 headphone amp dongle thingy for my Android phone.
Enabling Beta USB driver and Roon ARC allows 196/24 lossless playback and it sounds PDG!
Thanks Mrs Rimmer! :innocent:

Me too. I have sufficient power but have always wanted to try more of a monoblock, lower wattage and low gain approach for my high efficiency speakers. I have always been a bit apprehensive since I also listen to EDM. But perhaps this would be the time for a Christmas gift to myself to finally try out this approach.

Cheap monos are not worth the hassle. A better stereo amp will get you much farther.
