While Rose certainly should not have marketed the 130 as Roon Ready before it was certified (not that there were any reason for a streamer-only device that costs more than a 250 to exist in the first place), the rest is factually incorrect. There’s nothing about Android 7 that prevents it from any kind of high-rez playback, other than Apple being Apple, and there’s currently nothing about later versions of Android that would provide any meaningful benefit in a dedicated music streamer.
Quick Google search (which you should have done before commenting) states that only Android 10 or later can play Apple Music Hi-Res. Think about how long ago Android 7 was released (2016) - Hi-Res Apple Music wasn’t even a rumor back then.
Apple is being like every other respectable technology company in the world, and not making their features in their apps backwards compatible with long abandoned versions of operating systems and browsers.

Funny how Android 7 (Android 1 would’ve worked, too, really) has no problem with 32/768, or high res tracks from any other service, but a cheesy 24/192 from Apple high-res would be a problem.
I mean, there are lots of reasons why a 130, or any streamer for more than $100 ($300 maybe if you want a big touch screen) is a rather silly proposition, but the version of Android in it isn’t one of them.
This is on Apples website clearly says Android 5 as I said works on my Android 7 DAP.
All developers use older Android versions and for good reasons. The SoC they use only works on those Versions. They are fixed and proven to work and won’t get system updates that break stuff, which happens so eases burdens on their support. Also they are much much cheaper to license so keeps costs down. All companies that use Android as its base Os that’s not a phone or tablet use older versions most recent models have moved to 10 the odd one on 12.
If it was a phone that kept all my personal data I would want the most up to date for security but as it’s music playing device with no such information and doesn’t go on insecure Wi-Fi it’s really not an issue.
Android 7 doesn’t have any audio limitations this is purely an issue with Apples API nothing else and they did explain this on their forum. As explained which you seem to keep ignoring, Rose don’t use Android apps they are integrating into Rose Connect so users have one app to use everything like Roon and other integrations do. You can’t use the Android apps for this. All devices that have Apple Music have to use Apples dedicated app so is separate to all other apps, for a dedicated Hifi streamer this isn’t very practical as it’s designed for a phone or tablet not a remote experience and that’s not what most users want. Darko commented on this in his review. If you want the app that’s on a Hifi deive buy something that just uses Android apps like FiiO or Eversolo they don’t have the same level of integration it’s just a solo app albeit on Eversolo it has the screencast to your phone to make control a little easier.
You pasted a screenshot of the minimum OS version to run Apple Music, not Apple Music hi-res. Android is/was capped at 16/44.1 for Apple Music till Android 10. Try again.
I’m sure you are happy with machines running Windows 95. Good for you. For $5K I expect architecture decisions that allow for the best and widest user experience, or at least the lack of limitations.
Moreso, and to the point of this forum, I expect WHAT IS ADVERTISED ON THE BOX to be available when I plug it in, and not some lame excuses about why Roon is the problem. If a company is constantly blaming 3rd parties for their failures, it’s time they look in the mirror.
And you’re wrong again. Android 7 Hiby R7 shown below playing lossless 48/24
I can’t find any mention of any limit to a specific Android version other than what I posted before on Apples site or googling I could not find anything. So were you getting this from exactly?
That said AM refuses to go higher than 48/24 on both my Daps even the M11 Plus which is on Android 10 where both used to play all rates bit perfect. Not used it for months as cancelled it as I never use it but was able to get another free trial.
Played an album known to be 192/24 so somethings changed in latest AM app for Android in general. Also tried external DAC still no change.
So, to the best of my 5 minutes on Google, there is no Hiby R7. There is an R6 and R5 that both run on Android 12. Sooo…ummmm…yeah.
I just hooked up my Astell and Kern ACRO 1000T to a Chord Dave to triple check, and it is playing/sending 24/192 from Apple Music like a champion.
I’ve wasted enough time on you/this when this is a Roon community. I might suggest you explore an Apple Music, Android DAP, or creative writing - fiction Community if you want to keep beating this to death with someone that’s willing to continue responding.
If you respond with anything other than a confirmed release date of Roon for the RS130 I’ll stop reading immediately.
Amazes me how many half-baked ill-thought-out opinions there are on audio message boards.
Opening this thread back up to see if anyone at Roon can comment on the status of the Hifi Rose RS130’s Roon Readiness. Have had the unit for over 2 months now and am unable to use it with Roon whatsoever.
Hi @WP_Soderholm,
Roon do not comment on specific certification questions.
If you purchased on the promise of certification I’m afraid you’ll have to take that up with your retailer.
Not want you want to hear I know, but this is the reality of the the situation.
It seems the HiFi Rose 130 is now certified by Roon. On the Roon Partner site the RS130 is now labeled with Roon Ready & Roon Tested. Can somebody check if the RS130 is now working with Roon?
I returned mine at the end of the 60 day trial period as it was still uncertified by then.
No RS130 owner with Roon out there to verify?
Hallo Herr Nachbaur,
das Gerät funktioniert bei mir 100% mit Roon
DSD 512 geht auch…

Hello Mr Nachbaur,
the device works 100% with Roon
DSD 512 also works…

Cool.

Cool. Would like to buy the device, Roon was important to me. Thank you! May I ask how satisfied you are with the device and what your comparative references are? My current streamer is an Auralic Aries G2, I’m expecting the Hifi Rose RS130 to be an update in sound quality (although the Aries is already pretty good).
That is somewhat encouraging to see roon working with the 130, however here in Texas I still can’t get past the screen saying it’s uncertified. I’m on the latest firmware and Roon version. Any ideas?
Paging @Boris_Molodyi , would you have any ideas for our neighbor ?
@William_H_Choice_III have you done a complete network restart, core, everything?
OffRode, thank you so much. I had tried pretty much everything EXCEPT for rebooting the computer the core is running on. Feeling pretty stupid and definitely won’t be telling the many people at my company where I always say “have you rebooted?”
Good to hear that it was an easy one. Welcome to the forum William, Boris and I are also Texas residents though I’m currently in California.
Sorry, was running from plane to plane for the past two days.
Glad to see that the problem had resolved itself (although interestingly, when my NAD was flipping between certified and certified state I did not need to reboot the Core).
I still think that the RS13o is slightly less useful than lipstick on a pig, but once it gets recognized it should be working fine…
