HifiBerry / RoonBridge Install

Looks like there are (at least) 3 ways that I could set up Raspberry Pi with HiFiBerry Digi and RoonBridge.

  1. Install Roonbridge and configure HifiBerry Digi+ Manually https://www.hifiberry.com/guides/configuring-linux-3-18-x/

  2. Install HiFiBerry Raspbian Image (https://www.hifiberry.com/guides/sd-card-images/ and then install RoonBridge

  3. Use HiFiBerry beta RoonBridge image https://www.hifiberry.com/2016/06/roon-image-for-beta-testers/

Are there any differences and, if so, which is best?

HiFiBerry’s Roon image is out of beta since august, now at version 1.0.6 and… set and forget (auto-updating)

I also tried Raspbian lite and DietPi but always went back to HiFiBerry’s image

I personally prefer @RBM instructions here:

This gives me an option to connect any USB based compatible DAC as well.
Nothing wrong with the Hifiberry images as suggested by @pl_svn, its graphically correct, absolutely fuzz-free and all, but wont accept USB DACs
