Looks like there are (at least) 3 ways that I could set up Raspberry Pi with HiFiBerry Digi and RoonBridge.
-
Install Roonbridge and configure HifiBerry Digi+ Manually https://www.hifiberry.com/guides/configuring-linux-3-18-x/
-
Install HiFiBerry Raspbian Image (https://www.hifiberry.com/guides/sd-card-images/ and then install RoonBridge
-
Use HiFiBerry beta RoonBridge image https://www.hifiberry.com/2016/06/roon-image-for-beta-testers/
Are there any differences and, if so, which is best?

HiFiBerry’s Roon image is out of beta since august, now at version 1.0.6 and… set and forget (auto-updating)
I also tried Raspbian lite and DietPi but always went back to HiFiBerry’s image

I personally prefer @RBM instructions here:
https://community.roonlabs.com/t/roon-bridge-for-arm-a-beginner-s-guide-to-raspberry-pi-and-cubox-i/10138
This gives me an option to connect any USB based compatible DAC as well.
Nothing wrong with the Hifiberry images as suggested by @pl_svn, its graphically correct, absolutely fuzz-free and all, but wont accept USB DACs
