High CPU usage of RoonAppliance
Wired setup, Ubiquiti router, tp-link switches
Actually, I used the “new support” request button which is why the original message is so light.
Anyhow, since three days I’m seeing RoonAppliance running at >= 100% CPU usage almost all the time even if no media is playing.
I’ve never seen that before. I already did skim through the log files but couldn’t spot any obvious error message.
Which additional information do I need to provide and what can I try to solve this?
Many thanks.
You could try a restart? An uptime of 89days is a lot, no matter the OS
Roon is running inside Docker. I restarted the container already several times. After the restart the situation improves from some time but then gets back to >= 100%.
It’s a pretty common thing at moment and Roon are investigating at least one variant on its where regular
Metadata updates hog the CPU . It also seems users with Sonos zones are seeing this after they are used for a sustained period.
That would make senses because it seems to be starting when I listen to music, after a restart, on my Sonos speaker.
Hello @eBerdnA ,
Thanks for reaching out with your report. Please note that we have an existing thread tracking this behavior here:
Note that running Roon in a docker container is technically considered Tinkering , so I will move your thread to that section. You are welcome to follow the main tracking thread for further updates, as the issues do seem to match up, and a fix for the other thread could help with the issue you reported also.
