Describe the issue

When choosing high sample rate FLAC files Roon will often only play them at 44.1KHz/16bit, not the higher rate they are shown to be.

Describe your network setup

MacMini is Roon server. MacStudio Ultra is Roon client. Both are connected via WiFi using an Orbi mesh network.

Please show us a screenshot of your signal path when this happens.

Hi @Eric_Lambert,

Do you have any DSP engaged in MUSE when this occurs? Please share the screenshot requested above for us to investigate further.

Are you referring to music provided by streaming services? Check your settings, because maybe you are not on ‘max’.

That was it Arlen. I had streaming quality set to High but not Max. As soon as I switched to Max and tried the same album it successfully started playing the high sample rate versions. Thx!

The odd thing is that I often played high sample rate files via Tidal and it had no issue playing at the correct rates. For some reason, a few of the FLAC albums got dumbed-down to 44.1/16.

Maybe before the introduction of Tidal Max and the associated Roon changes?

So did the Tidal setting in Roon get set to Max automatically? I certainly never changed that after my initial setup a few years ago (where I’d selected the highest option available at that time).

I can’t remember (and probably this should have been mentioned in the release notes) but there were definitely many instances of the same kind here on the forum.
