Hey @Louis_Schmukler,

Thanks for writing in and sharing your report! A few next steps for you:

  1. Double-check that your Holo Red streamer’s coax output is physically connected to the PS Audio Stellar DAC’s coax input (not accidentally to USB).
- Ensure the DAC is switched to the correct input selection (Coax).

Verify Roon’s Device Identification

  1. In Roon → Settings → Audio, look at the devices under your Holo Red streamer.
Sometimes Roon will default to showing “USB” as the name of the device, even if you’re actually using Coax.
  1. Check the Holo Red Streamer’s Output Settings - The Holo Red can output to multiple digital outputs (USB, Coax, AES, I²S, etc.), but only one may be active at a time depending on configuration.
Go into the Holo Red’s control interface (or app) and confirm that Coax is selected/enabled as the active output.
  1. Test Playback Outside of Roon - If the Holo Red supports another playback method (e.g. DLNA, AirPlay, HQPlayer NAA), try sending audio through it and see if the DAC locks onto the Coax signal.
Since you mentioned Roon shows “USB,” check that Roon is not accidentally playing directly from the MacBook’s USB output to the DAC (bypassing the Holo Red).

Disable any direct Mac → DAC USB device in Roon’s Audio settings to force playback through the streamer.
