How are tracks organized

The Tracks listed on my core iMac are different from the tracks listing on my Remotes (iPhone and windows laptop). tracks from several random albums show up on my remotes while on the core there are a few individual tracks that I downloaded from third-party vendors and no tracks from albums. why is there such a discrepancy and what can I do to remove the album tracks listed on the remote devices .
