Description of Issue

I can’t find the correct path to add Nucleus as a Network Share in order to back up to the Nucleus.

Can you explain better what you are trying to do. Are you trying to copy music to the storage drive on the Nucleus?

If so, First, make sure you have a storage drive installed, you cannot host music on the OS drive. Second, from your Windows machine you should be able to browse to the Nucleus’ internal drive via File Manager. Then it is just a matter of copying music files to the new location

Are you trying to copy over a database backup to restore on the Nucleus, First, there are no internal drives on a Nucleus that can/should hold a database backup. Your options are to either copy a database backup to a USB, plug that key into the Nucleus and restore. Or, setup a shared location on another PC, and then point Roon to that PC’s share to find the files to restore.

HI Daniel. Thank you for your help. I seem to have managed it: I have to send my laptop in for repair, so I had to revert to an old laptop which I used before buying a Nucleus. So the problem was how to restore from the Nucleus to my old computer. I’m hoping I won’t have the same problem when my repaired laptop returns.
Still having the same problem with the eternally revolving disk that says ‘of 4923 tracks 4923 added, 0 identified’. This is the same as on the faulty laptop, except that the nunbers have changed. Any ideas?

Hi @David_S,

Ben with the support team checking in, are you still running into issues?

Where is this storage location originate from? How is it connected to your server?

Well that’s amazing! Just opened Roon, and the revolving disk isn’t there for the first time! What happened?

It occurs to me that it might be because last night I re-booted the Nucleus.

Maybe I spoke too soon. Just noticed that with the re-boot, Nucleus lost contact with my music files. I re-located them, and now Roon is adding them and identifying them. it remains to be seen whether Roon will complete this and stop the spinning disk.

It has actually identified all my tracks, and the disk has stopped spinning! I conclude that it was rebooting the Nucleus and re-connecting to my music folders that kick-started the process that had been stopped for some reason, probably the connection of the Nucleus to the Roon servers.

Hi @David_S,

I’m glad to hear you’re back up and running! I’ll go ahead and mark your reply as a solution - certainly feel free to reach out to me directly if you run into any additional issues! :+1:

Thank you. The Nucleus seems to have ironed out all the problems I was having before. Just one question: If I run Roon on my Windows 11 laptop as a remote, will I benefit from the new version of Roon?

Hi @David_S,

Since your Roon Server was already running on your Nucleus, the new update won’t affect you.

Was there a specific benefit you were referring to?

No. Does the Nucleus get updated automatically?
