How to connect SSD residing in Auralic Altair to Roon

Hi,

I have music FLAC flies residing in SSD of my Auralic Altair G1. In view of the discontinuation of Lightning DS app, i’m intending to use roon for altar G1 streamer moving forward. May I know if anyone has done the setup / connectivity btw SSD (residing in Altair) and roon server? If yes, appreciate if you could share your experience on this …. Thanks

Hi Paul, First a general comment… Roon works by pulling the music to the Roon Core, processing and then sending it out to the selected endpoint. If the Altair is the music source (playing a NAS role) and the endpoint, then what you would have is the music being streamed from the Altair to the Core and then back to the Altair. Depending on your network, and especially if WiFi is in the chain, this can potentially cause playback issues. I always want to keep the music local to the Roonserver. …
