How to force Wifi ac connection with Ropieee

I observed Ropieee never connects to 5Ghz Wifi ac, on Raspi 4, always 2.4 Ghz (dont know ac ou n), even close to the router. Is there a mean to force 5Ghz connection ? 2.4 Ghz is crowded in my area and 5Ghz relatively clean. Maybe Ropiee should give access to “Wifi country” configuration ? What is the default “Wifi country” of Ropieee ?

It will be the channel of the 5ghz network. The pie WiFi chip doesn’t like the higher DFS ones I found or overcrowded ones. Try changing it and see it sorted out my issues and all my roopies connect via 5ghz. I believe the country used will be what you set up for the time zone. Some routers have options to force 5ghz but in the end it’s down to the device. What channel width are you using120, 80 or 40?

Primary channel : 36, secondary : 40

Should be ok for anywhere those ones. Does your router have any options to try and force them to use 5ghz mine does ? Likely the best way if it’s not is if you can run two ssids one for 2.ghz and one for 5ghz and then connect to the 5ghz one . The pis Wi-Fi isn’t the best implementation so this would not give it a choice to choose the frequency.

Thanks for caring ! Alas, my router is a Nest Wifi from Google, and has no possibility to split 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz in two access point. If this is not a “Wifi country” issue from Ropieee, there is no solution I afraid. I have another raspi 4, I will check if it connects to 5Ghz at the same place with Raspbian, if so this is perhaps a Ropieee issue.

BTW I have added another USB Wifi key to the Raspi 4. For the Wiki key to be detected, Ropieee have to be reinstalled ?

Not sure asnever used one on it so can’t really say. You do if you add a screen as it sets all drivers on install. @spockfish will be able to confirm.
