Description of Issue

Is there a setting that allows me to show all versions of the same album so that they all show up in the main Artist tab rather than only available via Versions?

For example, I have three copies of Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy in my Roon library:

Tidal: Houses of the Holy (Remaster)
Library: Houses Of The Holy [Deluxe Edition] [24_96]
Library: Houses Of The Holy [Vinyl Rip] [24_96]

But when viewing the Discography list from the Zeppelin artists page, it’s only showing one version in the main page. When I view all albums, the Tidal “(Remaster”) version is shown; when I filter to only show my Library versions, only the “[Vinyl Rip]” version is shown (no idea why it chooses that one). If I click into either one that’s shown I can see all three versions by selecting the Version tab as expected.

I would like to see all versions of an album on the main Artist discography page without having to click through whichever album Roon chooses to display to select the version that I want to play. In the above example, if I want to play the 24/96 Deluxe Edition, it always takes multiple clicks down through Versions to find that one.

Is there any way to display all versions on the Artists discography page? I already have “Show hidden tracks and albums” enabled. Any other way to do this?

Thanks!

I don’t know, but I think a perfomers discography is more about what albums have they made, not how many versions are out there. Personally, I would only want to see one version of each. I can click on any I want to look at and then click on Versions to see what’s in Tidal, Qobuz, or local.

@Jim_F Interesting point about the role of the discography in general, and I may agree if it was just an issue of showing Tidal vs Local (I use the “Filter Library” button all the time to only show non-Tidal albums). But when I have multiple versions of the same album in my Library, I would like to see them all in that Artist view. I know I can also choose the Album view and filter by name to see all the versions together, but still would prefer to see every version of every album in the main Artist view.

Not sure if this helps but when I look in the “Overview” vs the “Discography” view for my Led Zeppelin collection I see all the versions (it is a little confusing as it does not identify what is local on the albums that are stored locally, just the Tidal icon and the MQA):

In the Versions tab, you can click click the “…” to the right of the album and select “Remove from group”. That would display the alternate version as if it is a different release. I don’t know of a way to do that globally, though.

Thanks @bearFNF, good tip!

@EvilGnome6: Neither option in the triple dots is available for me, they’re both grayed out (after switching to a particular version):

Ah. You need to add the album to your collection before you can modify it.

Jim was correct. What you are asking for is not what the Discography screen is designed to show. It does not obey the Show Hidden rules. Overview, is what you want, or the Album screen, to see all the versions in your library with Show Hidden set to YES.

Thx all, good to know that it’s not an option in Discography.
