Edit :writing_hand:

HQplayer also not showing on network/ It happened to me too, I was able to get it back by pressing power button and thumb bottom button, but although is showing is still crashing at launch.

@jussi_laako here the same (app quits, 5.12.2) on iPad 5th gen iPadOS 16.7.11

5.12.2 client working on macOS 15.4.1 and Linux Mint.

Also working on iPad Pro 11 2nd gen iOS 18.3

That’s not iPadOS …. It’s a different app

It is working for me on latest iPad and iPad Mini, that’s all I’ve got to test it on. So it’s a bit of a mystery why it works for some and doesn’t for others…

I’ve now also tested on my old iPad Pro 10.5" with the latest OS available for it (17.7.6) and updated Client to 5.12.2 there and it is working there as well… So unless I can reproduce the issue, I need to just try to gather information about any possible common denominators for cases where it doesn’t work.

Jussi,

On my Ipad (Pro 13 inch M4 - 18.4.1.) HQP client does not work. Possibly due to the last Apple IOS update? I deleted the App. and reloaded but no success. Desktop HQP client on my Windows PC is fine. JPlay / HQP is fine.

I have two iPads with 18.4.1 where it works installed from App Store, so I still don’t know why it wouldn’t work… There’s not even anything such major in terms of changes that should cause trouble.

If I can reproduce it on any of my three iPads, then it would be much easier to solve. I can try to set up a Test Flight beta release as well, if someone having trouble is willing to install and test. So maybe that way I could get some more information about potential issues.

If you are having trouble and willing to test with Test Flight, please send me email so we can set up things for beta testing.

Thanks for the response.

Today I re-booted my PC, streamer, switch etc. and the HQP Client app. is now working. If it happens again, I will get more details.

Can do the test as well.

Edit :writing_hand::

Just tested the Beta version using latest iPad iOS and got a message about missing PDF components. It happened just once. Other times it will just quit after launch :rocket:. Was not able to take screenshot :smiling_face_with_tear:

The latest TestFlight version 5.13.0 (3) (not yet available publicly) without the PDF booklet viewer works here.

Good that the the issue got located, but bad that it requires removing the PDF booklet part. Seems to be primarily 9th Gen iPad where the issue appears. The amount of RAM iOS gives to apps varies between device models. And the crash happens because memory allocation in the PDF component fails…

If the beta doesn’t encounter crashes, then I will turn it into a release…

FYI … JPlay for iOS can show pdf booklets without issues (from Minimserver) even on my iPad 5gen.

Good, probably a different PDF component in use then. Most of the crashes seem to be on 9th Gen. I have only four gens to test with and it worked there. Crashes are due to memory allocation failure (probably runs out of RAM allowed by iOS on the particular hardware).

For the hardware I have it was working for local library and Qobuz. But for now it will be disabled on iOS for indefinite future unless toolkit vendor / Apple manages to fix it (nothing to do with my code anyway).

Well… if you didn’t do that, I wouldn’t have to spend on rtx5080, since I have two water cooled 7900xtx
Anyway, this feature may become fotm soon, as ryzen AI+ MAX has basically no alternatives for building a powerful and energy efficient nettop/nuc.

It is just that their hardware support is changing all the time and flaky at best. So some GPU model may stop working on next release, so you never know. And if you have unsupported GPU model, the application refuses to start altogether.

For example Instinct GPUs are only supported on Linux, while the AI ones only on Windows.

They just have an ongoing issue where multi-GPU systems experience freezes.
