HQPlayer no Devices Found (Network Audio Adapter)

Post here you HQPlayer settings please … and why installing networkaudiod (aka NAA) on your Mac?
Have you set the Zen Stream as NAA?
.
And is you dac connected to the Zen Stream and powered on?
The right sequence is:

  • connect the dac to the Zen and power it on
  • power on the Zen
  • start HQPlayer

HQPlayer settings are basically irrelevant until I can actually have it see the Zen Stream. Do I NOT need to install networkaudiod on my Mac Mini? It has never been able to see the Zen Stream.

Have done the correct order, yes. Just will never see the Zen Stream lol… sorry I sound like a robot.

No, you don’t … the Zen Stream has the networkaudiod (NAA) embedded

How is it connected to you network?

Ok - still wouldn’t work beforehand anyway, so I’ve just terminated the app. I appreciate your help @Stefano_Antonelli - thank you sincerely.

Both are hardwired and I have no issue streaming in Roon to the Zen Stream which is how I normally operate.

How did you set the function selector (on the back of the Zen)?
Should be set to 1 or 4

Please check if you are in Roon only mode or AIO mode on the stream. I have made the mistake myself in the past.

Also make sure that you have not accidentally disabled the NAA service (yes also something I have done)

Other than that HQPlayer should find it automatically

For my T+A DAC 200 and Accuphase DAC-60 I use 7054 model, which were the first I got. Works perfectly. For my T+A HA 200 and measurement rig for example I use 7055-C which also works perfectly. Source for the HA 200 is my AMD 5800X machine (USB from AMD chipset of course).

All 7055-C are connected using proper USB3 cables with those blue connectors and the big B-type connector at the 7055-C end. Device onward from 7055-C is connected through regular USB2 cable, since the HA 200 and my measurement device are just USB2.

I always have it set to 4. That should at least work fine, I’ve used it a lot.

Corroborating your experience: I have 2 Up Gateway > 7055-C > Holo DAC setups, Straight Wire (resold as Pyst by Schiit) from Up Gateway to 7055-C, and the USB cables that came with the DACs for 7055-C to DAC. No issues at all.

Have you tried connecting the 7055-C to your holo red? Would be curious if it works for you. Maybe I have a dud.

Hi guys.
So I received my UP Gateway and miraculously (as a non tech guy) managed to flash the image and boot it up from a usb drive! Thank you @dabassgoesboomboom @jussi_laako
I’ve connected my T+A Dac 200 via usb to the intona isolator which is then connected via usb to my NAA.

My Roon core is on a networked (Ethernet) Roon Nucleus and I’m playing HQP on an M1Pro MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM.

So……I’ve played around a little and the max output I can get is DSD 256. Whenever I try for 512 or more, my HQP detects the Roon signal input but it doesn’t make its way to the T+A

Any thoughts and guidance would be really appreciated!!

Set SDM Pack to “None” and it will work.

You are right….I have intermittent drops (not signal dropouts to the DAC but intermittent pauses is the best way to describe it). I guess my M1Pro chip cannot handle HQP for DSD 512…… Any other settings I can use to lighten the load?

It works - thank you!!!
Per my note above, seems like my processing power still isn’t enough to upsample at DSD 512.

Need to make a call on a Mac mini with M2 pro chip or a gaming spec machine…

Greyed out the Multi-core dsp and went for a non-EC modulator (ASDM7). Guess I need to invest in a better cpu!

If EC modulator at DSD512 is what you want, M2 just barely does it.

13900K has more headroom (even without GPU). With GPU you unlock more of what HQPlayer can do with filter’s because the filtering gets done by GPU and CPU is left to handle modulators - load sharing

I have an 11900K without separate GPU - very easily doing DSD512 with all modulators and I stick to 1x = gauss-long and Nx = gauss-hires-lp filters

I Don’t feel a rush to add a GPU for 2 years now but I made sure my case and powersupply are ready just in case

Did you get any local quotes for a shop to build for you?

What were the total prices , fully assembled
