I have added Tidal to Roon recently and what a mess

I have added Tidal to Roon recently and what a mess. I have many albums that transferred just a few songs from the album and then a second MQA version transferred properly. It seems most the the high res flac albums are only partially added .Then i see at bottom to add the complete album. What a mess!

when i hit the tidal button to add an album it just circles forever. I see a little hiccup in the page and the album is added but the + sign is still circling as if it wasnt added.

like i said my adding Tidal is a complete mess.

@davidh - the best course of action is always to open your own Support request and describe your setup in detail if you want help.

You may have a similar symptom, but not necessarily the same cause as the original poster - your system setup may be different, that’s why the general rule is to always first open your own request. Let the Support team merge threads if they find common causes.

To receive appropriate help, it would be really helpful if you could complete the template provided below.

You can copy and paste it into your reply.

Please be sure to include details of your server, network, storage location of your media files, and any messages displayed by Roon.

Thank you.

Description of Issue

Tell us about the problem you’re having in as much detail as possible. Screenshots are always appreciated!

I deleted Tidal and have added it back this morning. I will let you know if i still have the problem.

What Roon is doing is adding a few songs of an album but not the whole album on album view. I see an add the complete album on the bottom of the page. These partial albums are not in some playlist so its not that.

This is not happening in the Tidal ios app i use or Audirvana or any other software application.

Did you favorite individual tracks in Tidal instead of the whole album? This is the typical cause for what you are seeing

Absolutely not . It’s a brand new Tidal account !

Didn’t you have a Tidal account previously? Perhaps there’s still a ghost of it in Tidal’s system?

Maybe 4 years ago or so

And when this happens…

what exactly did you do previously? Did you add the whole album (not any tracks) to the Roon library by going to the album on Roon and clicking the (…) button at the top of the album page and then Add to Library in the menu?

Maybe it would help if you could post screenshots showing the sequence of your actions and the results

I add Tidal albums ,never individual tracks ,on the ios app. Eventually they show up in Roon. I have deleted Tidal from Roon restarted my Innuos Zen Mini and signed back in to Tidal on Roon.

50,000 tracks are being added so its taking awhile and i hope this resolves the problem.

My old Tidal account was a different email address FYI.

Hi @davidh,
Thanks for writing in to let us know about this issue. Can you upload a screenshot showing an album that has been affected by this?

So this are 5000 albums or so? You sure were busy after recently adding Tidal. And yes, this will definitely take a while to populate into Roon and to create all the credit links etc. Be patient.

Also be aware that Tidal has a 9,999 item limit in favorites, and as Roon library content from Tidal is equivalent to being a Tidal favorite, this affects Roon, too:

I used Tune my music to add my Apple library to Tidal. .took 30-40 minutes and worked flawlessly adding everything in complete form

Yeah, then I suppose you had them collected on some other service and dumped them into Tidal. But now Roon has a lot of work to do

I’ve never seen a music transfer service work flawlessly when transferring to or from any streaming service, I have always been left with live versions of tracks instead of studio, cover versions instead of the original, even tribute bands instead of the original.
The only thing I found these services useful for was wiping my favourites from Qobuz completely.
This includes Soundiiz as well.

Thats too bad. Didn’t have this issue.

Apparently I am running into the over 10k track limit with 57k Tidal tracks or so. Tidal is apparently deciding which tracks I should keep.
Oh well , it looks like Tidal is a no go for me . It is a ridiculous limit.

Or maybe Tune My Music has messed up. C’est la vie…

Tidal has a limit of 9,999 liked items. This can be albums, tracks, or artists. So for example if you liked an album, that counts as 1 regardless of how many tracks are inside, whereas if you liked the 20 tracks in that album, it counts as 20. It is clear why this is: each user can only have 9,999 like barcodes. I got this information from Tidal support.

This is an incredibly stupid decision. Spotify used to have this limit and they did work to remove this limitation. Tidal doesn’t seem to be bothered.

FWIW, I started a thread on reddit:

So I deleted Tidal and added back in my Qobuz account .Gueess what Same problem.

Some albums when you look at the album view only have a couple of tracks of the album. At the bottom there is button to view the complete album.

When I look at the qobuz app on my phone or the mac app I have the entire album is there not just a couple of tracks.

I think this is a Roon bug on importing a music service. When i see two different versions , my ripped cd and the qobuz version i know when there will be a partial album. In some instances the album view will not show the album format . When that happens the album will show unavailable when i open it even though it is available in Qobuz.

Like I said it is a complete mess.

Mabye your Innuos is reaching it’s limit.
