I went silly with car audio once before ...

Maybe not just once either …

The car/truck/SUV/whatever can be a bit of an escape pod to listen to music without neighbours or members of the household complaining. Now with things like CarPlay, Roon Arc and head units like the Kenwood DMX9720XDS, we can put together the roots of an in car audio experience that can be very satisfying … but where do you stop? I have boxes of Focal, Hertz and Addison gear behind me that I’ve purchased to put in a 10 year old Amarok yet I’m considering even higher spec gear along with a complete interior strip and sound deadening install.

FCS this is the farm truck :open_mouth:

Is anyone else suffering this same strange disorder?

I’m looking at buying a “proper” Land Rover Defender 110 when I retire next year. Given that looked after, they can last for decades, I’m already thinking about what sort of sound system I can put into it. I think it’s going to be a very deep rabbit hole…

Sound deadening in a Landy is an absolute must. No judgement from me in your considering it for the Amarok!

It simple , to be in-keeping with the style , you need an 8 Track or if you want to be Ultra Modern an iPod

My antique iPod classic 160 gb still serves up a storm in my car ,I suspect my next car may not support iPods so I will have to decide. All the more reason to keep the old car.

Always been a great Landrover fan!
Are you considering a new model? Then you can have a Meridian system as an option.
In combination with CarPlay and Roon Arc, splendid :+1:.
Succes, also with your upcoming retirement.

Greetings,
LD

Definitely not one of the new ones.

I want robust, simple and easy to maintain.

There’s an awful lot of techno-frippery with future failure potential in the new models.

I highly doubt there will be many of them still around 40 years from now.

For a Landie it may be worth looking at some of the high spec marine grade gear. That way you’ll still be able to hose it out

I’ve got a bit carried away with my project and have had the old Amarok in and out of the mechanic’s place addressing anything that detracts by creaking, squeaking or grinding. I’ve barely started the install and have a complete new interior waiting to go in. I thought I’d be done by now but life throws curve balls … but I’ll get there one day.

Might be of interest to you
