iFi iDSD Phantom - Roon Ready [2026-03-21 It is now]

Hello, i’m trying to use my iFi iDSD PHANTHOM with Roon. The device is “Roon Ready” but not certified. It is fully visible in the “Roon Ready” section of Roon.

But when i want to “ativate it”, a pop-up appears saying that there is a problem with the device and it is not certified yet.

Does it mean that this certification should happen before being able to use ?

Thanks

Official feedback from iFi : “the certification has been delayed because of weather issues, customs, etc…”. So only way of using Roon with the iDSD PHANTOM is through Airplay. Disappointing…

Then it is not certified Roon Ready, and can’t possibly be since iFi hasn’t even shipped the device to Roon.

So, yes, you should be dissapointed with iFi.

Always refer to the Roon partner page for a definative list of certified equipment.

I am the same . I purchased my iDSD Phantom 2 weeks ago & was disappointed to find it wasn’t Roon Ready & waiting certification . I can use it via USB from the Roon Core on my macbook with MUSE enabled . Or via Airplay & Tidal . Just hope Roon get it certified shortly ,

You mean, “Just hope iFi get it certified shortly …”. It is the manufacturers responsibility to seek certification, and it appears, according to iFi, that Roon has yet to recieved the device. This tells us that the certification process hasn’t started.

When people buy on a promise, and keep the device, manufacturers will continue to falsely advertise capabilities.

Therefore, return for a refund, buy another device, or buy again when certification is announced on the Roon website (the only definitive place to confirm Roon Ready and Roon Tested status.)

I prefer to trust both parties and think a solution will come as the product is said to be in the hands of Roon.

Anyway, Roon is not my only choice to play music so I can afford to wait. Just annoying that it is sold as compatible (meaning certification is done).

Let’s be positive :call_me_hand:

Does Roon have the device?

Moreover, manufacturers are breaking the terms of the agreement by stating the device is Roon Ready when it is not. And, consumer law.

There were a lot of optimistic Hegel owners a few years ago, and after a couple of years, they weren’t so bullish.

Hopefully, it’ll work out for you. As I said, I’d return it since that’s a consumer right, and it may make iFi notice, should they get more returns than expected.

This is what I understood from the support of ifi audio.

You are fully right on your statement concerning laws and customer relation.

Let’s see and cross fingers in order it can happen

When I contacted iFi regarding Roon Ready certification this is the reply I received -

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have raised this internally with our product development team.

I can confirm that Roon is currently in the process of certifying the iDSD Phantom as a “Roon Ready” device. Unfortunately there were some unexpected delays to this process, due to shipping/customs issues, along with severe weather that led to the certification being pushed back.

Once it has been officially certified by Roon, Roon Ready network connection will be available. In the meantime, as a temporary solution while using the Phantom with Roon, you can stream via AirPlay. This can be found in the “Other Network Devices” section of Roon’s Audio Set-up.
