I'm having the Android hanging problem

Here are the details:

Roon core 1.7 Build 521
is running on a Windows 10 computer w/ 16gb RAM & an emptyish SSD

Wired Network, except for remotes which connect via wifi
Router is a Netgear R7000P, and the Core & renderer are connected via a recent vintage Netgear 5 port switch. The problem device is connected via wifi to the same router.

Renderer is a PS Audio DSJ Bridge via wired Ethernet.

Remote
The problem unit is a Lenovo TB-X304F running Android 8.1.0
Android security patch March 5, 2019
Kernel version 3.18.71
Build number TB-X304F_RF01_190329
Hardware Version: Lenovopad TB-X304F
Software Version: TB-X304F_RF01_190329
RAM: 2GB
Storage total size 16gb
CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 425
Display 1280x800

Roon finds the core, loads the home screen, and freezes.
Behavior only began after recent update.

My Pixel 2 running Android 10 works fine.
