Since the last Roon & Roon ARC update (July 24), I am facing troubles when I want to connect my iPhone to Roon Arc when I am away from home.
Since the last update, I have noticed that if I want to connect to Roon from any of devices, I have to identify myself which was not the case before, maybe a security check which is OK for me.
My real problem is that I cannot connect to Roon Arc anymore as it said it could not reach my Roon Core (and my Roon Core is opened and perfectly working on Roon app).
To solve this issue, I have noticed that, if I have previously launched Roon app from let say my Mac (with the security check), then I can have access to Roon Arc. But if not done, it does not work.
But if I am away from home, I cannot launch Roon from any device before launching Roon Arc on my iPhone.
Is there something new to do that I don’t know?
Is this also happening to any of you?
It says it’s connected.
I think I have found the issue but I cannot fix it.
At each time, I quit the Roon app and close my Roon server, if I want to go back I need to identify myself which was not the case before.
Until I am not connected to my Roon account through the Roon app (with any of my devices), Roon server is unavailable for Roon Arc, that’s why Roon Arc is no longer working when I am away from home.
Is there any thing I should change on the Roon app settings to avoid to identify myself at each time that could fix my problem.
Any tips?
OK, this shouldn’t be the issue Asking because there were lots of login issues from China.
Having to log into the Roon server all the time is certainly not the expected behavior. Unfortunately, I have no idea what’s wrong there. Best to have official support take a look. They will be around when this thread gets to the front of their queue.
For Roon support.
My roon server is version 2.0 (build 1442) and it says it’s the last version.
My Roon server is a SonicTransporter i5 (Gen 3) from Small Green Computer
The Roon version on my Mac is Roon version 2.0 (build 1445)
Hope it will help

Please do not open multiple threads for the same problem.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Describe your network setup
My roon server is version 2.0 (build 1442) and it says it’s the last version. My Roon server/ Roon Core is a SonicTransporter i5 (Gen 3) from Small Green Computer The Roon version on my Mac is Roon version 2.0 (build 1445)
Can you confirm the firmware is up to date on your SonicTransporter? How is it connected to your network? Can you set up a basic and direct ethernet connection between the two?
Does this issue occur via Arc no matter the remote device you’re using?
Lastly, if you could, please reproduce the issue and share the specific date, time, and device used when running into the issue.
Hello
I am not sure to understand all what you are asking.
Anyway here are my answers:
Yes the firmware is up to date on my SonicTransporter.
It is connected by Ethernet wire directly to my internet box.
I have tried with 2 different iPhones and the same issue happens when I want to connect to Arc.
The issue is that I always need to identify myself from the beginning at each time I leave Roon and shut of the Roon server.
I have turned on my Roon Server on July the 29th at 11:06pm (France time zone). I have used my iPhone. Roon server appears in red on Roon Arc when I want to connect it directly so I cannot connect to Roon Arc.
Then I opened Roon app. It asked me to identify myself. The Roon app opened itself at 11:09pm. And therefore Roon Arc opened immediately as Roon server appeared in green on the settings.
Hope you will find where is the troubleshooting.
Many thanks for your help
Based on your description, here’s what’s happening:
Your RoonServer machine (the SonicTransporter) is losing it’s authentication with our servers, either because RoonServer restarts, the machine restarts, or the network connection is forcibly closed by external factors.
ARC won’t connect to RoonServer as a result, even though you’re logged in.
Opening Roon Remote on the same network as RoonServer allows you to log back in .
ARC then connects to RoonServer.
A few follow up questions:
When RoonServer is not visible to ARC, are you able to log into Roon Community on the phone’s browser?
Your RoonServer machine hasn’t pinged our server in several days. Does RoonServer remain open as a background process on this machine?
Do you have any additional network hardware other than the router you mentioned in your description?
