· After the Crash of Roon on QNAP NAS (due to an update and an incompatible QNAP version) and installing a Roon-version on a Roon Optimize Core Kit I get two problems: 1. I can't backup the Roon release on the QNAP NAS, so I don't know how to restore my information on the newly installed ROCK. So I don't know how to get my license en my music-library to the Rock. 2. The installation of the ffmpeg-file in the Codecs-directory on the Rock doesn't change the message Missing Codecs on the Roon Server Software part in the system Status.
You cannot run a backup on the NAS since Roon Server will no longer run on an unsupported version of Linux. Ideally, use your last available backup.
If you did not run scheduled backups:
Make sure you do in future as this scenario is exactly why you should have a backup.
Roon Technical Support may be able to guide you through the steps to manually copy the database. However, it is imperative that you preserve the database location on the NAS.
Thank you for reaching out. Let us address both issues:
1. Migrating your library to ROCK
If you do not have a Roon backup, you can try manually copying the Roon database folder from the QNAP to ROCK. However, please note this is not an officially supported migration path and we cannot guarantee everything will work correctly. The database location on your QNAP would be in the Roon data directory — copy the RoonServer folder to the ROCK database location accessible via \rock\data\RoonServer. Your license is tied to your Roon account so that will carry over automatically once you log in.
If the manual migration does not work, unfortunately a fresh start will be the only option.
