· Manually backed up data in Roon Nucleus to a USB thumb drive to transfer data to new Innuos server. After using it to restore backup in the Innuos, there are now two Nucleus servers showing to select, but the second server labeled Nucleus says linux 6.12.8-rt8-innuos-02x and when I select it, it is actually connected via ethernet to the Innuos server. However Audio path shows the original Nucleus server and OS. How can I get the Audio path to show the correct Innuos server?

· 1G Xfinity cable, gateway and TP Link router. Ethernet cable runs directly from router to Innuos and Nucleus servers.
When you restored the backup, it also restored the server name or Ethernet Hostname which would be ‘Nucleus’. Thus after the backup, Roon uses Nucleus to refer to the Roon Server.
You can set the Roon Server name to anything you like (within reason) in Roon Settings → Setup as shown below:
Thanks Wade. As you noted above in Settings>Setup I had already typed “Innuos” in the Roon Server name box. However, under Settings>General it still shows the Roon Server as “Nucleus”. Worse, under Settings>Audio, the path doesn’t show the Innuos server at all. I’m stumped!
Thanks for the report. It does look like there’s some strange behavior here. We’re trying to activate diagnostics for your Roon Servers, but it looks like they are not responding/turned off. Can you please turn them on when you have a chance and let us know in this thread? We’ll see if the logs have any useful clues. Thanks!
Sorry, the Innuos servers must not stay on constantly. I restarted it, connected it to my Trinnov endpoint at 1:30am Thursday. New good news. Under Settings>General, it shows the Innuos Server. Under Settings>Setup it still shows Roon Server Name Innuos. Under Settings>About it shows the Roon Server as Innuos. The puzzling news is under Settings>Audio it doesn’t show Innuos in the signal path. It only shows “this Tablet” and the Trinnov Roon Ready device info. Please try looking at your access to my Roon Log again now that the Innuos server is powered on and connected to the Trinnov. Thanks!
Thanks for the follow up and additional info! I’m so glad to hear things are seemingly looking and funcitoning properly for you.
It sounds like your Roon setup is actually functioning exactly as it should. The confusion usually stems from how Roon distinguishes between the Server and the Endpoint.
To answer your specific question: No, you should not see the Innuos server listed as an “Audio Device” in the Signal Path or the Audio settings menu, unless you are using a physical cable (like USB) connected directly from the Innuos to a DAC. Is that the case?
If so, you will see a similar list of available outputs listed under “Connected to Roon Server” like below, for example:
Thanks so much for the clarification! The Innuos server is connected via Ethernet to the network rather than a wired USB connection so I’m happy to know all is well. Thanks so much.
