Description of Issue
At every attempt to connect I’m locked out with the error message
“There was an issue loading your library” Have not had music since July 20th, 2023. I have reset / rebooted / turned off / everything in the chain on two separate occasions in the proper order. All attempts to connect are blocked with this error message. Innuos Sense app recognizes the ZENith.
Note: I don’t care if I lose “listening history or playlists” with a restart.
I do NOT want to lose album art or alphabetical ordering. Just need some direction and monitoring and advice to resolve this. Maybe delete the Roon app and reinstall? (Note: an iPad is the client for interface here)
Thanks RodS. Yes, I did my homework before posting. So, I read that and did the reboot thing as stated. Innuos machine is supposed to be “plug and play”. Beautiful when working…unfortunately it’s a black box with no access through the iPad. Will wait for Innuos users to chime in.
(or support/moderators) Thanks none the less!
Grateful for your involvement, Geoff. That sounds about right. I will take your advice tomorrow, Monday. Maybe they will suggest a remote session. (As much a pain in the posterior as that has been in the past with multiple time zones) I hope Roon support does NOT delay relevant comment waiting for Innuos support. Best regards, Doug.
8-1-23 Update: got a service number from Innuos. Took their initial advice to get into their dashboard and “delete Roon data base” (did that) , confirm latest version of Innuos (did that). And they told me all should be normal.
BUT, now when I try to log in to Roon I’m stuck in a loop!! It first wanted my log-in email and password. It did not recognize my original password so I tried the generated one when the same thing happened trying to get into community. Now using THAT one got into this screen:
Hey BlackJack, Thanks for your interest in this task! I have hesitation because my zenith, right there on screen, I thought was the authorized item. To unauthorize it implies a loss and starting from scratch. It’s been soooo long ago when this thing was set-up with a dealer being the “pilot in command”— not even sure I could do it now, solo.
Can you describe the sequence of events when “unauthorize” is hit?
Sincerely, Doug
A little bit to late for your concerns as you already deleted your Roon Core database.
So either you have a backup to restore, or you have to start over setting up your Roon Core from scratch. If you restore a backup you may not need to “Unauthorize”.
Note: Every new Roon Core (database) creates a unique ID on first run that is then used to acquire a license from Roon Labs (link ID with license). Clicking on “Unauthorize” deletes an existing link to one of your licenses so a new one can be linked. Because you deleted your old database, a new one got created (with a new ID). That’s the reason you need to “Unauthorize” in your current situation.
Guess somebody could hold my hand to set up again…(if it’s too late to be concerned it’s only because I took an expert’s advice). Roon implies hardware failure of Innuos. Innuos blames data corruption on Roon. I have it in print.
Now, pertinent question, if I don’t care about listening history nor playlists, what exactly is lost without a Roon backup? Album art?
Are my ripped CD’s gone? I DO have those backed up on an external drive—but, is that the corrupt library that starts this mess all over again?
I think I’m stumbling into some kind of software purgatory.
Everything Roon – Audio device/Zone setup (including DSP and filters), any manual edits on your library (including internet Radio stations added manually), etc. …
Those are not part of the Roon Core database – so they should still be there (but you may have to configure Roon to find them). I can’t be more specific here as I’m another Roon user and not another Innuos customer. Ask Innuos support if you need help with that.
Unlikely – likely reasons why corruption happens are listed in the KB-Article you already got linked.
Album art? Lost? Y/N.
Thanks for the information—I’m getting a glimpse of the bigger picture.
The news isn’t always good but it’s sincerely appreciated.
Now a general broadcast / shoutout to anybody with direct experience.
auto read by Roon from your music folders/files (lost=n)
manually added into Roon (edit Album) by yourself (lost=y)
Again: Everything you’ve manually done before has to be done manually again – or maybe you take the opportunity to improve the metadata quality of your music library to reduce manual labor (optional task – only if needed/possible).
8-2-23 update: Attention to support: This issue is resolved and the thread can be closed within a couple days at your discretion.
A big thank-you to all who contributed. Still unclear where the corruption of data originated, or if my hardware is developing something leading to another problem or eventual failure. My path after hitting the “unauthorize” button is fuzzy and at times I was just guessing what was correct. It worked out.
I’m realizing the vast multitude of diverse systems out there and the snags which can result. For that reason, a generic description or explanation within a screen is impossible?
The second big question—“Why should an error message lock out a user from everything??” Instead of scaring the heck out of someone, giving access and some things to try might solve a problem on its own.
It could include some diagnostics with the sense that you had a hand in correcting things. Pull down explanations would also eliminate some of the guesswork as well.
Most Sincerely— Doug
