· My MAC and PC are both too old to run the server software. The MAC OS is 11.7.11, PC is windows 7. Is it possible to purchase a Nucleus One for the trial period and return it if I determine Roon is not for me?
That’s a good question, however, … let me step back a second. A Roon Server that is running on a Linux based OS, like a Nucleus One, is just the server software portion, you will still need a compliant computer, tablet or phone to run the Client software to interface with the server.
Meaning your old PCs won’t be able to run the client. Do you have a modern tablet? A modern phone could work, but, the phone UI doesn’t have all the options, that is only available on a tablet or PC.
Welcome to the community! @Rugby raises an important point worth confirming before you consider a purchase - please do check that you have a compatible device to run the Roon remote app, as your current Mac and PC won’t be able to serve that role.
Regarding the return policy on a Nucleus One, this is handled by our sales team directly. I’d recommend reaching out via
and they will be able to walk you through the options.
Thanks for your reply. I have an iPad that I have already installed the app on and it appears to be compatible. I currently use it for Tidal Connect and the LUMIN app.
