Installing Music on the Nucleus

Music files are in there.

Thanks. Can you click on the thumb drive folder (I’m not sure which one it is) and see if your music shows.

Are you able to drag the music to the Internal storage folder?

Cheers, Greg

James you are using a Web browser (Internet Explorer) to view the Nucleus storage folder.

You need to use the file browser (File Explorer or Windows Explorer).

Open Music, then open another instance of File Explorer (not a Web browser). Then type the Nucleus storage address into the new File Explorer window. It will open the Nucleus storage folder. Then copy the files across from the Music folder.

But that’s the problem. The Nucleus does not show up as a network device.

Post a screenshot of a File Explorer with the Nucleus storage address pasted into it.

Like this, notice File Explorer not a web browser.

Guess what? That worked. Maybe you have solved this. The music you see there now is what you just helped me copy from the USB drive. Should I reformat this drive and start fresh? When I copy music, exactly what should I copy, just the actual music file or all the album info and art, etc? Thanks so much for your help.

Which drive do you want to format ?

Now that you have opened the Nucleus storage in a File Manager, you don’t need to use the USB stick. You can copy files across directly from your laptop Music folder.

This is pretty old now, but I still think it’s accurate. Roon looks for art in the album folder with music files and uses ā€œcover.jpgā€ or ā€œfolder.jpgā€ etc.

I’d suggest running a test to see if Roon picks up an art file or info file that you are describing. If not, you may need to rename it and copy it into an Album folder in Nucleus storage.

Thank you so much. I was able to copy all the album folders over and then I copied all the album contents. I think I will simply delete all the individual files and just leave the album folders with their content. You have been a tremendous help. I don’t really have much music of my own, but it was bothering me that I could not get it to work. All is good now.

Right back at you!

I deleted all the individual files and just left the album folders with their contents. My library quickly adjusted and they are all in my library as they should be.

Thanks again.

I was finally able to direct my Nucleus to a Roon Backup folder on my Dell laptop. I also made a folder on the Dell for doing manual backups of my music files from the Nucleus to the Dell. Now I won’t have to fool with connecting USB drives unless/until I want a backup of the backup.
