Integration of Amazon Music High Resolution

If Roon is not actively pursuing Amazon for integration in to their product, they would be foolish.

If you truly care then quit streaming.

No, not at all. Streaming exists and cannot be denied. I use it as part of my music portfolio. Personally I buy CDs and Music from artists I like and follow and stream as well not looking for the cheapest service.

those are not available everywhere…so, vote for Amazon here, otherwise would do Qobuz

I’d love to consider Qobuz as an option, but not until they offer a family plan.

You’re not really supporting music more by paying for the most expensive streaming service vs cheapest service. In every situation the artist gets fractions of a penny.

Not criticizing you for streaming, I do so myself as well as buy tons of physical media. But we’re not helping the musicians out anymore by choosing Qobuz, Tidal, or Amazon.

If you really want to support music you’re buying digital direct from the bands/labels on Bandcamp.

They don’t even have a service in South Africa

Doubt SA has a sufficiently large customer base to warrant the effort that goes into rights management to enable streaming?

I support music in many ways, streaming, buying music, I also volunteer in a major way running a not for profit live music venue. I meet and promote artists at the coal face helping them expand their audience and introducing people to artists they may never otherwise meet.
Beyond buying and streaming music, the best thing people can do is to attend live events (especially small ones) and then spread the word.
Only you can prevent empty Venus, is a slogan I like. It all counts.

There are rumors that Web Services is coming, they have been recruiting developers for a lot of years

That said even if you try to buy on Amazon US they often won’t ship electronic stuff to SA

But you are right the music market here could be quite small, hi fi shops are quite specialist here , half of what is discussed here is just not available to buy

Then you also need electricity to run it , load shedding looms again

https://www.avsa.co.za/distributors/ - you can get most things if you’re patient, just not demo them.

Glad I got out while I still could. It’s coming up to 3 years now. My only regret is family & friends.

I didn’t realize you were a South African , I had guessed Australian , but the exodus has been high

I am English been here 24 years though

Unless Amazon’s customers convince them that Roon integration would benefit Amazon, I doubt Amazon could care less about Roon. And Roon has zero influence in Amazon’s decision.

Lots of downsides to partnering with Google and Amazon. Interesting article.

I’ve just submitted my cancellation for Roon due to no Amazon HD support. It pains me to do it but I hate Tidal, it’s simply too expensive compared to Amazon HD.

When they support it, I’ll come back. In the mean time, back to Sonos.

One or two cd!s cost 20 dollars ! Come on

Not sure where located but in US Qobuz is just $15 at the moment. It still has catching up to do in terms of catalog size but has true hires files and caters to audiophile crowd.

It’s only $5 per month more.

Qobuz is only $12.50 per month if you pay for a year.

At the end of the day, there’s nothing stopping Amazon from building their own “audiophile” music service. A modified echo, or dot-like device, either wireless or Ethernet, some decent de-jittering, and either a usb output to your weapon of choice.

They clearly have the database and programming skills in-house to make a decent app.If I squint, I can almost see it.
