Intermittent playback continuation issue post-album (ref#UOTKQ3)

What’s happening?

Describe the issue

It used to be that if I played an album it would automatically continue after it had played with similar tracks... and just keep going... but lately it has just played a few other tracks, then stops... If I look at the playlist/queue it shows the latest track under now playing (but the track is done)... I can then click next and it will play one or two tracks, then top again... ?

Thanks for reaching out. Can you confirm how often this behavior occurs? Is it after every album, every hour, once a day, etc?

We have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS.

Can you please give this a try and let me know if it helps?

I have just noticed it yesterday and it was after each album as Roon normally tries to find similar tracks… it is like roon can only play one or two tracks each time… and then “hangs”.. I can then clock “next track” and it will play a few more…
To be honnest, I fail to see how DNS can be an issue so you will have to elaborate on this… I currently use my own DNS server (via my company) running on Microsoft DNS servers, they lookup the DNS records via root-servers… fail to see how cloudflare or other DNS server should be any better than this? I do not have any problems with any other services using DNS… maybe if it’s possible to enable debugging on the Roon server? I have not tried to do so, all I can see is the webpage… but maybe there is a SSH backdoor?

…actually noticed that the DNS for the Roon server was set to 8.8.8.8 so I tried to set it to 1.1.1.1 yet no change at all… it now plays one track at a time… then stalls… I click next… and it plays another track.. then stalls… pretty annoying

Actually is shows “Comming up next…” as you can see below… but it never plays the next track… just sits there…

Had a look at the logs on the CIFS share… but not sure what I have to look for there? It looks kinda normal to me…

Here may be some interresting.. We have some “Connection refused”… ?
It starts with Peter Gabriel playing… and it you look at the time specified, you can see that it “hangs”.. and tries to get the next track with Kate Bush… not sure what the “raatserver” is? But it’s having issues connecting to it?

Thanks for the updates and additional information! Based on the log snippet you’ve shared, there’s a device connection failure trace that matches a known issue our team is currently investigating:

A follow-up test for you:

If possible, are you able to test out individual audio devices - one at a time, and see if you experience the same issue no matter the audio endpoint you use?

We don’t yet have any additional troubleshooting steps for you outside of the above for now - let us know how it goes and if you experience any differing behavior.
