I have installed Roon core on a Synology DS 718+. The connection to my roon App on a i pad is breaking all the time and it goes very long to load my music (24390, files, 608 GB). Reason? Synology to weak? Would it work with Roon Nucleus One? (Titan ist to expensive for me...)
Describe your network setup
Synology DS 718+, Linn akurateDS, Qobuz, Yetnet modem
Thank you for reaching out to Roon Support, and welcome to our community!
The device you mentioned has only 2GB of RAM, which is also shared with the device’s operating system. Unfortunately, this amount of memory is not sufficient to run Roon properly. You can find more details about the system requirements here:
Yes, Roon will work perfectly with the Nucleus One with this library size.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns!
When I buy a Nucleus One, can I use the music source of the DS 718+? Or do I have the better result with aSSD in the nucleus one and make a copy of all the music to this SSD (Music quality and handling)
If you have a good wired connection between the Nucleus and the DS718+, you can use shared storage without noticing any difference compared to internal storage. Both the Nucleus One and the DS718+ have Gigabit Ethernet ports, and if you have a Gigabit switch between them, the connection will be more than sufficient.
