Describe the issue

Incorrect transition to next track on album

I use Roon to server my local digitized music collection (FLAC format ripped from my vast CD collection using dBPowerAmp CD ripper).

When telling Roon to play an entire album (start at track 1 & play each track in sequence), it has intermittent problems.
At the end of the music at the previous track, it will transition to playing several seconds into the next track (instead of starting at the beginning of the next track). While playing the next track, the controller display says it is finishing playing the previous track and then shows it at the end of the previous track (frozen on that) & that it is not playing anything - even though I can hear it continuing to play that next track.
Very Strange.

Here is my environment:

My Server is a Lenovo ThinkCenter M75s Gen 2 (AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 5650G processor) with 18GB RAM, running Windows 10 Pro . The music files are on an internal SSD drive. Roon build 1442.
The server is connected to the local network via Ethernet cable. The player is a SONOS Amp, also connected via Ethernet cable..

Describe your network setup

AT&T Router/modem Pace 5268,
Araknis AN-100-SW-F switch
CAT5 wiring

If you play to something other than the sonos does it have an issue, like if you play to the speakers on the Lenovo

I will see what I can do. The challenge is that this seems to be an intermittent problem.
Even if I repeat playing the same album over the same Sonos device (Amp for bedroom) as was used the last occurence, it is not guaranteed to occur. The next occurrence might be on the Sonos Amp for the front porch, listening to a different album. (normally I do my listening at one of our many Sonos devices.)

So best I can do is determine how long I have to be listening before it is highly likely to occur
Then, I would need to that same amount of listening on a non-Sonos device. Since I rarely sit at the server (only when ripping new material), the best non-Sonos option is to do extended listen on my iPhone.
It may be awhile before I can give a definitive result.

Hi @Michael_Arones,

Thanks for the report! Have you dug into the Resync Delay feature at all? You may find it helpful - here’s more info:

I had not previously looked at the Roon audio options on my devices.

I do not see Resynch Delay on any those Sonos devices. They do have options for device volume & multichannel mixing.

I was surprised that my Sonos Amp units, while currently enabled for Sonos Streaming (as expected), are also listed as having the ability to be used as WiiM devices (currently disabled).

Thanks for the follow up @Michael_Arones,

I’d also test out simplifying your network setup and get a direct ethernet connection from your Lenovo running Roon Server to your primary router.

We’ll be on standby for a fresh timestamp and name of track :slightly_smiling_face:
