Introducing Nucleus One - the most affordable Roon Server ever made!

Q3 starts with July I believe. So yeah.

Exactly, so maybe 2 weeks difference or so, depending on how loosely “end of” and “beginning of” are defined

So pre ordering will not start until July, when the price will be confirmed. No mention of a ship date.
If they actually meant it will start to ship in Q3 within Europe, it’s very badly worded.

If I have 300K+ albums 450K tracks (30K albums) (Sitting on a NAS), and I don’t use DSP and only 1 zone. How would it perform? Just slow on loading the DB on startup? Any idea when we can order for Australia (240v)

Yes, I see that. Just wanted to know if you have MORE than that? Like a lot more.

You’d probably post on the forum to complain about how unsatisfactory Roon performance is, is my guess

Umm, I am just asking to see how it would be. I’m sure I’m allowed to do that. If I’m told it’s be slow then I’d be fine with that as I know the 100K track limit.

Who would know? It’s not even shipping yet. But the best guess is that 30x the stated top limit wouldn’t be a good thing.

True. Thought someone might have a test unit. I can’t justify the $6K+ for the Titan here in Oz. But would like to own some Roon hardware.

My old HP i5/16gb/500gb mini PC (Windows) is slow to load but once up is fine. Thought this could be better to a degree is all

With 300 k tracks I suspect you are for disappointment .

IF you were building a NUC the recommendation would be i7 and 16gb RAM (if not 32Gb)

It’s not jut the db loading, its in db searching etc that goes to Roon’s magic

I would go for a i7 or i9 desktop with loads of RAM and hide it in a cupboard

Thanks Mike. I did have a 12th gen Nuc Pro but had issues with it (running Rock). I’ve since sold it
I had this old HP and no issues. I am in the middle of a build (using the Silverstone GD11 Grandia case) I plan on overkill (lol) i9 and 128GB just in case. The mainboard has a Gen 5.0 SSD slot too

I just wanted to own some Roon gear. Like I said $6K for the Titan is something I couldn’t justify over this $2K i9 build)

I went the other way desktop to NUC/ROCK , I added an internal SSD and then had a serious prune to remove duplicates , stuff I never listened to trim my library size down.

I now have 3 libraries in effect , the Main one always in Roon, then a folder on a USB drive that is scanned into Roon but left Disabled . It “wakes” up in about 2 mins if I really need it. The third is simply excluded from Roon (but still in JRiver) . anything in that library I just dig out of Tidal if I want it

That way the main library is pretty nippy

Do I REALLY NEED 50 compete sets of Beethoven Piano Sonatas (JOKING)

Umm, yes you are. But I’m sure I’m allowed to try and answer, isn’t that the point of asking?

A post was split to a new topic: Availability of NUC

Sure, but a constructive answer is welcomed. Sarcastic one not so much

Anyway, what Mike said was all I needed to hear. Thanks though

I tried to be by posting what Roon recommends.

Some sarcasm is difficult to contain after reading endless forum discussions of users getting themselves into trouble by overtaxing the hardware beyond all recommendations

Albums or tracks? Please clarify as some replies to your OP assume tracks (300,000) and others, albums ~3,000,000.

The latter would probably require beefy hardware although the Nucleus+ can run over 1M tracks with additional memory.

I figured that 300K albums must be a mistake and obviously wouldn’t work as it would be 30 times the specified library size.

However, 300K tracks is already 3 times the specified size and IMHO nobody can in good conscience recommend it unless someone has an N1 and ran the experiment. I’d figure if Roon were satisfied that 300K tracks work fine they wouldn’t say 100K.

I currently have 450K tracks (30K albums) My current i5/16gb HP (4 years old) runs fine but takes quite some time to load in Roon if power cycled. Searching could be faster. Just thought the new appliance might be a ‘bit quicker’ and again wanting to own some Roon gear would be nice.
