Introducing RoPieee - A RoonBridge-to-go image for the Raspberry Pi

Simon

Thanks, but ain’t that the standard build. It’s the touch screen build I’m after. I’ve been using Ropiieee almost since day one, but was a little busy last week when the touch screen version kicked off.

Hi Ian,

The beta build will update also upon installation.

Thanks,

A couple of observations:

  1. After the Pi2 downloaded the latest beta and rebooted, I ended up again at the screen showing “unknown” for album and track, with no album art. I needed to go to the web page, and commit changes (even though I hadn’t made any changes) to get the touchscreen showing the current album and track once more.

  2. I like @dabassgoesboomboom 's idea of having slimmed-down/spaced-out icons, matching the Roon design, very much indeed. Hope that this can be done.

Well after all my fiddling about last night all is still good this morning.

Simon,

Curious: what kinda RPi are you running? A 2 or 3?

@spockfish Harry is there a way to update to the latest beta without having to burn a new image. Currently running 4.9.30-3-SPCKFSH

Its a pain to keep dismantling the 7" screen chassis to replace and or update the image :frowning:

@spockfish Harry I’m back home from my holiday.

Well I have discovered that if I kill/stop my other core I do see the remote extension listed and I can enable it :stuck_out_tongue: so thats good. But I still need it to work with another core in the mix.

I do get additional info on the display now but it just says unknown for everything. IQAudIO DigiAMP+ is still not listed and it seems to still be stuck at 4.9.30-3-SPCKFSH

Just a reboot works, no? It checks for any updates on booting up and pulls the latest if necessary (I think)

Just do what we do - go to the web page of the Ropieee, and commit the changes (even though you don’t change any parameters). Then it should be up and running properly after the reboot.

It’s not stuck. That’s the latest kernel version. DigiAMP+ support is not in; I was occupied with the touchscreen stuff during this weekend, but it’s on my short list

Geoff,

Spend some hours in traffic jams today. Besides listening to music it’s also good for figuring out why I never witnessed the ‘unknown’ situation when updating the software, and you (and others) have and get it to work after going into the settings screen.

The good news: I’ve found the issue. That doesn’t mean I’ve fixed it, but at least I can explain it so that’s a good start. I’ll try to release an update that fixes this annoying problem.

I’ll keep you posted!

That’s correct!

Is there a way to go from 4.9.30-3-SPCKFSH to the latest beta from the command line?

The version you mentioning is the kernel. It has nothing to do with the rest of the software. As this is the latest kernel I’ve released for RoPieee I’m not clear what you’re trying to achieve. If you want an update of the latest beta (assuming you’ve installed the beta image and are not on the regular build) you would be running the latest version already.

On the touchscreen this is simple to check: if the progress bar is at the bottom of the screen you’re running the latest version.

Hey Harry, this is just a beta so no big drama but:

But when she’s ready to go live, maybe on the http://ropieee.local settings page you could show the installed version ID

And then on your official website (http://www.ropieee.org) you could show the latest version ID (release history)

This way we can easily cross check to see if updates are being pulled or not and it saves this confusion.

Again, this is just beta so no big deal right now, for the touchscreen use.

This is indeed something along those lines I’m thinking about. So definitely on my list!

No stress at all

A vers 2 and a version 3

Ok thanks Simon, but you’ve been bitten by the same issue as Geoff. And the good news is that I’ve found what that issue is. I’ll be releasing an update in the coming hours, which, if everything goes according to plan, you will not notice at all.
