If there is no option, then it is because there is no need for it (nothing to choose, either always on or always off). See also:

On iPadOS, Exclusive Mode is handled differently than on desktop platforms.

When using an external DAC (such as the iFi hip-dac 3) with an iPad:

  • iPadOS already provides exclusive access automatically
  • There is no manual “Exclusive Mode” toggle in Roon for iOS devices
  • If the DAC is selected and playback works, Roon already has the maximum level of control that iPadOS allows

So the absence of an Exclusive Mode option here is expected behavior, not a malfunction or a missing device registration.

As long as audio is playing through the hip-dac 3 and the signal path shows the DAC as the output, everything is working as designed.
