Hi,
For the past year I’ve constantly had issues with the Roon app on my iPhone 11 while being used as a remote to control the music on my Bryston BDP-1 and Roon Core on NUC (both wired with ethernet). I don’t have issues with other remotes like my MacBook Pro.
My issue for the past year had looked like what’s been mentioned in this thread:
If your phone screen goes inactive for awhile or you go to another app momentarily, and then return to Roon, either the Roon app will not refresh correctly with the updated track and time of what’s currently playing, or the app will outright crash and send a crash report etc. The solution in that case has been to close the app, open it again, and now things are back in sync for the time being. Everything works again as long as you keep looking at it.
However, the symptoms have gotten much worse in the last month or so out of nowhere. Now, if the iPhone screen goes inactive or I switch to another app and then come back to Roon, it causes music altogether to stop on my endpoint. Even I refresh the Roon app on iPhone, I’m unable to get my endpoint to play or respond. Play and pause buttons become non-responsive. A few seconds later, all the enabled endpoints will disappear. If I go to the Audio Devices Tab in the Roon app, they will have all disappeared. It will be like this for a few minutes. After minutes of waiting, the devices will come back without names and say “enabling” for a few seconds. After that, their name will come and the list of audio devices will come back. I can then finally return to playing audio again.
It’s frequent and bad enough to the point where I close the app altogether after playing music, rather than leave it open in background because when that freezes, it stops the music as well on endpoints and the whole thing takes 5-10 minutes to get it back up and running…
