Have you tried the Onkyo Hi Res player, that is on Android and supports at least 24/96
See above Mike all Android is treated the same in Roon. But in the Onkyo only it own music app bypasses system resampling as its not a.modified OS to avoid it. Roons knobbled regardless by design.
Yes, I have a DP-X1. Since Android doesn’t support higher than 48kHz (not sure if that limitation was lifted in subsequent versions of Android) Onkyo implemented a proprietary SDK that bypasses Android audio to access the DAC directly and so have their competition, AFAIK there is no cross-manufacturer standard. It’s not realistic to expect Roon to write against every proprietary HRA SDK, although there is at least one player that did.
Give Teac NT-505 Network Streamer/Headphone amplifier a look. Excellent digital up sampling capability, Roon ready, military build quality, and full featured remote control.
Sorry to awaken such an old thread, but Fiio has the M17:
Any of the latest Fiio DAP range fit the same bill at different price levels.
