OK, then my next theory is that you have some high-byte character filenames that might be causing some issues. As a start, try performing the commands at:
…which will report on some common high byte characters. If you find results here, there are likely many more high-byte characters in your folders and filenames that might need cleaning up. These characters may not be visible when performing ls commands or browsing in something like File Station, etc.
