Describe the issue

Problem: Inconsistent, random pauses that can last multiple minutes (not seconds), between songs. Swiping the roon app closed on my ipad mini ,and restarting the app, occasionally seems to help - but I can't tell if it is just coincidence. I regularly load large playlists (500-2000 songs) into the que, the vast majority streamed from Tidal. When I stop playback and restart hours later, or the next day, there is typically a delay of several minutes before play starts, but not always. Problems seem to worsen if I move songs around in the que. I am careful to not move the next immediate song, but might move the 20th song the be the 2nd song in the que. I regularly go into roon setup and clear the cache - to no avail. If I power off the Taiko server, and reboot, the delays are better for a little while, but then return. I have spent much time with Taiko representatives on WhatsApp and email to no avail. I used to get kicked out of songs, and then roon would try to play the next song, and the next and the next and after skipping four songs playback would stop, which was also frequently accompanied by an error message referring to roon - but recent roon software upgrades seem to have eliminated this problem, but the delays between songs now seem to have lengthened. Speedtest regularly indicates my Comcast wireless speed is 600-800mpbs download and about 20+ mpbs upload, so presumably the wired connection is faster. My system is listed below. The Taiko switch is hardwired to the wall keystone jack. I do NOT have a tech background, so help in layman language is appreciated - if possible.

Describe your network setup

Amazon eero Gateway Max 7 router (10Gbps rated), with an eero Pro 6E in the listening room. Aris Surfboard modem (wireless signal turned off). Large 7,400 square foot house with a total of 3 wired extenders + router + 2 wireless extenders (all eero).

Hey @Dana_Ciraldo,

Thanks for sharing your report, and I’m sorry to hear about your playback issues!

We were able to review a diagnostic report from your Roon Server, and see the following errors when attempting to play content back from Tidal:

STREAM => Unauthorized {"status":401,"subStatus":4005,"userMessage":"Asset is not ready for playback"}
Warn: [tidal/media] could not get playback info for 168:0:71342966: Result[Status=InvalidTrack]

This tells us the issue isn’t likely tied to a specific zone you have set up, but more likely caught somewhere upstream, between your Roon Server machine and Tidals servers.

I’d like to see about temporarily simplifying your network setup in regards to Roon. Are you able to connect your Windows machine running Roon Server directly to your primary router via ethernet? It would be interesting to see if your issues persist with a more simple setup, even if temporarily.

Let me know! Thanks :raised_hands:

Hi Benjamin:
Thanks for providing and interpreting the roon diagnostic report. As to your suggestion, my primary router is on the south side of the house and the roon server (Taiko Extreme) is on the north side of the house, over 150 feet from the router. So I don’t have an ethernet cable that long (and certainly not one of an audiophile quality), and if I did my wife would never let me run a cable through the middle of the house. I have had two separate cable pullers explore the possibility of pulling a new cable from the router to the roon server and both said it couldn’t be done as the house was built in two stages and apparently there is some difficulty where they connect that prevents pulling a new cable. Hopefully you have another suggestion or idea? Thanks Dana

As of yesterday July 30, I purchased a 200 ft long generic Cat 7 ethernet cable and ran it directly from the router into the Taiko Extreme roon server. I will report on any changes or improvements in a few days. Thanks again.

Thanks for letting us know. We will look forward to hearing the results.

Hi @Dana_Ciraldo,

We wanted to check in to see if you’d encountered any dropouts or pauses since adding the ethernet run in your post above.
