Describe the issue

Hello I’m having an issue now that when I try to play music on the kef lsx 1 via roon airplay (tidal stream) it doesn’t connect.

Used to work fine any idea what might be doing wrong?

Is it something to do with airplay2?

Thanks
Joe

Describe your network setup

Virgin media Router to mesh wifi extenders. Kef lsx connected directly to ethernet cable

@Joe_Varley, try connecting the LSX 1 to the Apple Home app, it’s what corrected the issue for me. The LSX then appeared correctly in Roon, able to use AirPlay 2.

Hi @Joe_Varley,
Thanks for writing in to let us know about this issue. Please try @Robert_F’s suggestion and let us know if it works.

I have the same problem. My LSX 1’s won’t connect to AirPlay. The solution I have is resetting the speakers using the small reset button at the back of the speaker. Once I’ve done that, (holding in the button for 30 seconds) I can reconnect. I have to do this every time I want to use them, so it’s not a long term solution. Hopefully KEF can come up with a fix, as the issue certainly seems to be with the speaker. For ref. I also have a pair of LS50s 2 wireless and I have no issues connecting to them.

@AP1000, have you tried adding the LSX to the Apple Home app if you use Apple’s ecosystem?

The speakers were connected to the Apple Home app. I’ve now removed them and reset the speakers again. I’ll provide an update as to whether that works in the long term or not. KEF have said that the speakers may not be compatible with the latest google mesh update, but I’m not convinced, as they worked perfectly before. I certainly don’t want to have to buy the LSX 2s just because of a software update.
