Issue with MacOS Firewall preventing use of Roon Remote without disabling firewall (ref#87GINQ)

Full form submission

What’s happening?

I'm having trouble connecting to Roon

What type of connection issue?

*None* of my remotes can connect

Have you resolved the issue with the MAC OS Firewall??? It is not acceptable to required Mac users to DISABLE their firewalls to use ROON. I do not want to sacrifice security to be able to use Roon Remote. Please fix this issue!!!!!

@Eric_Hickert1, a fellow Mac user here. I do not have to disable my MacOS firewall to get Roon to connect to remotes or the server. What happens if you select “Select a different Roon Server” on the screen above?

I run Roon Remote on MacOS Sonoma without disabling the firewall. What are you running as your Roon Server? Are you able to connect to it from the Android or iOS Roon app?

Also see this note: https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/firewall

First thing I do with a new Mac is switch on the firewall settings… No issues here.

You might want to investigate further…

Hi @Eric_Hickert1,
Thank you for writing in to let us know about this issue. You do not need to disable your firewall to use Roon. You simply need to allow Roon, RoonServer, and RAATServer through your firewall. Let me know if doing this fixes your problem.

Do you see your server listed when doing this?
