Describe the issue

Just setting up Roon for the first time. I have a Small Green Computer i5 sonictransporter running Roon. My Roon end point is a Bryston BDP3 and my DAC is a PS Audio Direct Stream DAC MKI. Can't get any sound playing any source (Qobuz, Tidal, or locally stored files of any sample rate). I went into the utilities of the BDP3 and clicked Roon ready, rebooted it and it says BDP in Roon Ready Mode so I think that part is good. After this step the Bryston BDP3 showed up under Audio Devices and I enabled it. When I play a file and click on the Signal Path I see the source, then sonictransport, and then the BDP3 listed. I'm out of ideas at this point. I am not receiving any error messages.

Describe your network setup

Small Green Computer i5 Sonictransporter to Bryston BDP3 to PS Audio Directstream DAC MKI. I have hard wired ethernet from my router to my switch. Sonic Transporter and Bryston BDP3 are both hooked up to the switch. I have double checked all connections.

How is this DAC connected to the Bryston? Maybe USB? Are there any other devices connected to the Bryston using USB? In the Bryston’s manual, there is this phrase about how to use the USB connections (page 12).

Thanks for taking time to respond. I have the DAC connected via USB and AES/EBU. I’ve tried both and neither works. I believe USB is set up correctly as it has always worked just fine when I didn’t have Roon. Nothing else is connected to the Bryston. I have the Roon player app (not sure what the correct terminology is) set up on my Macbook and I can play to the Macbook. Doesn’t that mean the issue has to be with the Bryston?

Here is what my Signal Path looks like - see below. Should my DAC be listed?

I would think that the Bryston does what it should do, although I don’t have any experience with it. Have you tried to make a direct USB-connection between the PS Audio and your server?

To add to my suggestion… in your Sonicorbiter software, you should have this setting enabled to test this.

I went to that location in Sonicorbiter and both the Local Playback and Expose Roon Database boxes were checked by default. I hadn’t messed with them because I figured that they were correct given that they were default settings. Well, as soon as I unchecked both of those boxes it solved my problem!!

Great that it was solved! Strange though, because I have the local playback option on and this never made network playback impossible.

A friend of mine says the local playback box is checked on his and it works fine as well. Maybe I’ll ask Andrew at Small Green Computer about it.

You were the only reason I even thought to look at that page so Thanks!
