I created a new playlist for Norah Jones "Playing Along" and added about 15 songs. When I went back to the playlist Roon added every song from every Norah Jones album in my library to my specific playlist. Why? It Added 197 tracks to my playlist. Any way to eliminate them other than one by one? How can I prevent this behavior in the future?
You can select multiple items at once, then delete them. See here (which explains how to select multiple playlists, but it’s the same for tracks in a playlist and for albums, artists, …)
“Playing Along” is the name of Norah Jones album tracks. While playing each individual track I hit the add to playlist button and selected my new playlist as the destination. I did this for each individual track.
Thanks for writing in! It’s good to see you on the community again as well.
We’ve attempted to reproduce your issue in house, but haven’t been successful. There seem to be 26 total ‘Playing Along’ tracks.
If you select each track first, then create the new playlist, are you able to successfully create the playlist with only 26 tracks? Here’s a video of the process we tried:
You can right-click to be able to select multiple tracks at once.
Hi Benjamin. Thanks for the update. Is it possible the issue could be related to the IOS phone app? I created the playlist name first and then added the tracks to it one by one all within the phone app. I still can’t understand why/how every track from every Norah Jones album in my library got added to my playlist. I manually deleted all the superfluous tracks so I have what I wanted. Just a pain in the ass.
Thank you for your post. Please let us know if these tracks are re-added to the same playlist without your intervention - this would be the best test of whether something is misbehaving in the playlist sync.
If you do see the the rest of the Norah Jones content re-added to this playlist, please take a screenshot in Roon and share it here.
We can confirm in diagnostics that RoonServer processes 193 tracks associated with this playlist - there’s not a clear indication in the logged period for when or how they were added.
Do you recall the precise date you created the original playlist in your phone? Another test would be to recreate a playlist named something nearly identical - “Norah Jones Playing Along 2” - and add a few tracks from the same album.
Thanks Connor. So far no new tracks have been added since the extras were deleted. I think the playlist was first created on Friday or Saturday this past week.
I will create a second similar playlist to see what happens. I will mark the date and time. Anything else that you would like me to do?
Morning Daniel. I just created a second Norah Jones Playing Along playlist. Everything seems totally fine with it. I guess the first one with the problem was a fluke. Who knows? Thanks for your help. David
Daniel. One last thought. The second Playlist I referred to (that worked fine) was created with Roon Radio turned off. Is it possible that Roon Radio being on during the creation of the first problem playlist could have something to do with it?
